Geesh this Gant looks like a tall glass of water. He should be starting for the Knicks….they sure could use the help.
The Brewers are highly annoying with all these two out hits. Even more so since the Cards can’t seem to get any of them.
I guess the hook is short for Helsley. All he did was give up a hit to Yelich on a pretty good pitch. Also, the defensive alignment looked strange with Thames. If you’re going to drop Wong that far back and over to the 1B line, doesn’t DeJong have to be moved over more? And then they pitched Thames outside to make it easier to go up the middle.
Gant needs to get it together now.
I thought they kept Gant in one batter too long. Didn’t know if they should pull Helsley when they did either. But I’m also saying these things after everythingg played out…
Cards have missed on a few opportunities to score … Brewers capitalize here. Cards need Webb to shut this down now!

Crew seize a 2-1 advantage on their third consecutive 2 out hit here in the 6th…..and t hst will signal the end to Mr. Gant’s evening. Maybe we could work out a trade with the Knicks for him? We have enough point guards….I think a nice power forward to bop some long ones might be nice.
If my scan of his game log is correct, tonight was the first time in his 12 career MLB appearances that Ryan Helsley took the mound with the #stlcards ahead. He departed after 1 1/3 innings with the tying run on second after Yelich doubled. Gant then yielded the lead.

If you are going to pull your starter early you have to have the courage to let your long guys go multiple innings.
