Looks like we will remain tied with the Cubs. They have a 7-0 lead on the Pirates in the 5th inning over at Williamsport, or wherever they are playing.

August 18, 2019 at 7:59 pm #102743Yes that dumb game in Williamsport.
August 18, 2019 at 8:01 pm #102744Gallegos should be the closer going into 2020 if not sooner. The guy is solid, and saves us all from having to breathe into brown paper bags for the most part!
The BP is the one area where I don’t think they need to make a big addition in the offseason. Gallegos, Brebbia, Gant, Miller, Webb, Fernandez and some combo of Ponce, Helsley and let’s not forget about our long lost Gomber is a solid and well above average group. I assume they will at least try CMart at starting due to his contract.
August 18, 2019 at 8:20 pm #102745I wouldn’t mind seeing Gallegos get a chance at a save when Martinez is unavailable, but he is totally unproven in the ninth to protect a lead at this point. I would ease him into it and see what happens. Today was a rare bad day for him.
August 18, 2019 at 8:44 pm #102746In #StLCards closer Carlos Martinez last 15 IP in relief (covers July & Aug):
Alarming numbers
9R, 9ER
ERA 5.4
19 H, 15K, 6 BB
Opp Avg in Aug: .333
WHIP: 1.75
Amazingly just 1 blown save

August 18, 2019 at 9:02 pm #102747Amen Andy Banker!
That’s what I have been saying for a LONG time. We have been extremely lucky with him. Just like we were extremely lucky with Rosenthal back in 2014, or 2015, whenever it was.

August 18, 2019 at 10:08 pm #102754It’s almost a necessity that CMart is back in the rotation next year. Otherwise, they will have to overpay for a retread who is coming off of a walk year and is looking for his last big contract.
August 19, 2019 at 7:18 am #102762Hey Pugs, I went to Olive Garden.
Love the place, Wooster. I always order the eggplant. I don’t know what it is, but hands down. Olive garden serves up the best Cokes. I’m thinking it has to be the glasses that the soda pop comes in, as their is no other plausible explanation. I could sit there for an hour just sipping Coke and devouring breadsticks.
Once again, Edman registers 3 hits. He’s making it impossible for Shildt not to etch his name on his starting line-up card. Get Bader ack up here so he and Edman can wreck havoc on opposing team’s. With Bader, O’Neill, Aren, Thomas, Carlson and yes, even Edman in mind, there is absolutely no way that Marcell will be back in ’20. Marcell and JMart are both AL bound.August 19, 2019 at 8:01 am #102768I have zero problem with Edman playing, but he needs to be in the IF period, Shildt needs to get his head out of hi collective rear and sit Carp, he can’t hit at all..and Thomas and Arozarena need to be starting in the OF when Edman is out there end of story…..his love affair of putting IF into the outfield is DUMB AS can be!
August 19, 2019 at 8:31 am #102769Once again, thanks for the humor folks over having a real snit about Edman playing in the OF. I frankly don’t care if he plays catcher (he hits better than the current occupant) as long as he does a decent job and continues to hit. I saw one foul ball error on one that I am not sure Fowler would have got to but I see no deficiencies in the OF but I would prefer to see him anywhere that Carpenter plays and that narrows down the choice. In truth, the guy is a true utility player who needs to play almost every day somewhere on the IF or OF. Granted we do have enough OFs so maybe we will see more of them in the near future and see a real scramble as September arrives and 40 hot bodies crowd the dugout – many of them OFs…..LOL
August 19, 2019 at 11:35 am #102810What is comical is that Shildt keeps putting IF in OF when he has just as good if not BETTER hitting options who can actually Play OF
August 19, 2019 at 11:49 am #102813It is not comical…Edmans should start every day whether it is in the IF or OF.
August 19, 2019 at 1:49 pm #102850NO he should not he is NOT a oF we have 2 young OF that are as good if not better hitters than him that need to be playing…he is as IF and that is where he should stay period!
August 19, 2019 at 2:48 pm #102853Your opinion…not mine or Mike Shildt.
August 19, 2019 at 2:50 pm #102854yeah we nobody is claiming Shildt has any brains!
August 19, 2019 at 2:57 pm #102857Stop your nonsense.

If you feel that strongly about Edman, how do you feel about Munoz doing the same thing?

Shildt is managing a major league ball club. You are posting you opinion on TCN. Which has more bearing on the actual happenings of the team?
