As I type this according to the Doppler Radar it looks like Chicago is getting pounded by rain. And according to the Doppler it appears to be a slow moving cell as well.

This one might be postponed altogether. Stay tuned……

Although I like today’s lineup, I’m a little surprised the little whiz-kid hasn’t stacked it with more RH hitters vs. today’s LHP’er like he’s almost always prone to do. Yesterday the Nootz was scratched from the line-up, Burleson was moved down to the 5 slot, with Velazquez slotted at cleanup as the DH. And Jordan’s not in there at 3B after having a nice game yesterday with 3 hits. I guess Blaze is being chastised for the Das Boot E-5’s the other day. In any case, it’s always hard to get a read on the wild goings on that are present deep in the mind of the resident genius standing on the top step, but if the Redbirds keep on winning, I’ll be more than happy to publicly recant on all the fun I’ve made of him in the past and cast my vote for the whiz-kid as NL MOY.

We just arrived at the pool party.

Just this morning my 2 yr old grandson was at the house and I filled up the blue plastic kiddie pool and sat in it with him. It was under a tree in the shade. Very nice. We watched birds visit the birdbath.

din din is rotisserie chicken and antipasto salad from the supermarket.

A delayed start is now official, whatever that means. I other news, the Cubs DFA’d B. Wilson as the Cardinal bats pounded him out of the league in yesterday’s game. Subsequently, the Cubs replaced him on the 26 man with former Redbird pitcher Jake Woodford who they signed to a massive long term contract of an undisclosed amount of money…Not sure about the last part.

It means its raining the next county over and they are afraid their hair will friz if they go outside.

Tampa’s taken on the look of a genuine buzz saw as they lead Houston 6-2 in an attempt to secure their 10th consecutive W. At the same time the entire gear box looks like it might scatter in NY as the Yankees lost at home to the Twins today in an 11-4 final. They’re now 2-8 in their last 10 and will plummet to 5 games off the pace in the ALE if the Rays hang on down in Houston.

FOX has switched over to Atl, for the Mets/Braves game during the rain delay at Wrigley. Get to see Sale go to work. He’s having another nice year in his 16th season in the Big Leagues.

Just saw Albies make a nice play to start a 4-6-3 inning ending GIDP. He was a genuine pain in the backside during that recent Cardinals/Braves series in ATL.

And the Mets, with their $382M, MLB leadingpayroll, are in last place in the NL East, 16 games back. The Rays are dominating the American League East with their $113M payroll, only $8M higher than the Cardinals payroll.

    Game is now underway.

And the other weatherman, Weatherholt, leads off with a big dong.

1-0 in the top of the 1st.

Wetherholt with his best Schwarber impression taters up on the first pitch of the game to give the Redbirds the early 1-0 lead.

Nice…Pages guns him down deader than yesterday for the CS.

And on an earlier pitch in the dirt to Busch, Pages dug it out to prevent a WP to place Crowbar at 2B. The Ol’ Perfessor really knew what he was taking about when he explained the importance of a catcher…

The Cardinals have missed a couple of mistakes from Chimichanga. Hopefully they’ll begin to hold him accountable.

The Redbird hitters are looking for a particular pitch and guessing. They can’t hardly ever do that with this lefty’s wide assortment.

Walker seems far and away more comfortable out in RF than he’s looked in the past.

Church works the lead-off BB. I’m liking him more with every game.

Another nice PA from Wetherholt as he works a BB to place Chimichanga into a state of discomfort.

And Herrera adds to the lead with the RBI single. Keep ’em coming.

Fermin made me a little nervous as he recorded the final out of the 3rd inning. That baseball was hit hard enough to where he had plenty of time to set himself to make the throw across the IF to get Bregman. He came a little too close to being late on the force at 3B.

That inning ending camera shot from Wrigley looked like Werewolves of London could show up any minute…

This 2 run 5th inning lead isn’t what I’d term anything close to comfortable. I’d really like to have 3 or 4 back from yesterday

Wetherholt’s had a real nice approach against this tough lefty. Now we need a big 2 out something from Ivan.

I’m more than weary of seeing Herrera under siege when he stands in. At some point it has to be addressed.
