Well, it’s 2:30 a.m. and sleep is tugging at my eyelids. I’ll leave it to the rest of you to bring this baby safely home. Gnite.

The last time the Cards scored 6 in a game May started was his second game of the year. Hopefully he doesn’t get vapors!

I’m on the road so din-din tonight was the pre-fix at a local joint–salad, salmon with rice and zuccini/squash/broccoli sides, vanilla ice cream and a glass of the house sauvignon blanc.

Sounds like a nice meal Gags. That sort of wine always makes me think of Foghorn Leghorn…

May’s at 88 pitches as he goes to work in the 6th. He’s yet to hand over a BB which is always good, but particularly so when working with a lead.

The Redbird manager is like all the rest in the context that today’s skippers monitor these pitch counts as though they were a cardiologist carefully monitoring an EKG in the ICU.

May will be done at 101 pitches so the fun starts in the 7th.

If he were take the mound and go to work in the 7th, I’d insist he belongs in Cooperstown.

Let him compete for the CG shutout…

Is there even such a thing as a CG shutout anymore?

Almost everyone knows that a coveted CG shutout is always better than a no-no and always will be.

Bruihl’s been much better lately than he was earlier in the season. He’s only allowed 1 ER in his last 6 IP’ed. Let’s just hope we don’t need a SV from the Bogsider later on…

I don’t want our prize trade chip extending himself too much. He was at 101 pitches. That’ll do for his evening.

Three H’s and a R from the 9 slot tonight. If he can duplicate that once every two weeks it’ll be an improvement.

Statmuse says there have been 4 complete game shutouts this year. As best I can tell there have been all of 7 complete games in all of MLB for the year.

    1td:

Your point made me look at Foghorn Leghorn and sauvignon blanc and I see there is a Foghorn winery that puts out that wine. Dunno of it’s a relation!

If they hold on to this 7 run lead, it’ll be 5 consecutive W’s and 7-3 in their last 10 games. This team may make the post-season…If they do, I’ll never again make fun of the whiz-kid. Until, of course, he behaves like a certified psychotic in a post-season game…

Yeah, Gags, I looked it up and Mel Blanc once served as the corporate CEO of that renowned winery. I’m pretty sure it’s located somewhere in the vicinity of Pepe’ Le Pew, France…

I’m astounded that there’s been 4 of them, Gags. Especially since it’s still the first half of June. And a Big League total of 7 CG’s even sounds better than I would have guessed

By far the easiest win all season. No tense moments at all. Great win.

The Cardinals hang a real nice well played W up on the board tonight in NY. Tomorrow’s game is without question a must win contest…

I just now see that my cable TV set up is carrying the Brewers/A’s game in about a half hour. At some point the Brewers almost have to lose a baseball game.

The bottom 5 of the lineup had 3 hits and two walks, and that’s even with Noot, Winn, and Crook going a combined 0-12. Different ones of these guys can be productive on a given night, whereas with Pages and Scott, well, it didn’t feel that way.

    1td-

When I looked it up, I figured there would be no complete games at all!

And if Pepe le Pew is involved, I’ll have to buy a bottle!

With a tip of the cap to the esteemed BicycleMike and wily Cardinal in France for their scrumptious din-din entries, tonight’s Game Thread Din-Din of The Day goes to both Osuagec and Gags. This marks the first time this season that we’ve had a tie. So this means that if either Osuagec or Gags wins tomorrow’s Game Thread Din-Din of The Day, then they take home a $100 gift certificate to either Red Lobster or Olive Garden for accomplishing our first back-to-back winner. Well plated and good luck gentlemen!
