Gorman needed to set his feet there and throw that. He took quite a few running steps and j think would have had a much better throw planted

My initial thought too, Gags. But Church probably quickly deduced that he had a 50% chance of making the catch and so decided to play it safe. From what I see early on, I trust both his glove and his judgement.
Yeah, Albert, it looked like he may have been aware of the baserunners speed and it caused him to rush the throw to 1B.
He may have had a decent chance to squeeze it Gags, but I think he made the right decision by playing it safe and fielding it on one hop. If he dives and it gets by him, the baseball’s probably still rolling around somewhere out there in LF.
Fair point you guys. I wondered if being eaten up by that one ball got Gorman in his head a bit on that throw.
This stadium here in Sacramento looks pretty quaint, which I find perfect for baseball. When I was in grade school I would go stay with my grandmother in Portage, Wisconsin for a couple weeks during summer vacation. I never missed a night of heading on over to their fairgrounds to watch men’s underhand fast pitch. These guys played with such intensity……it was fantastic entertainment.
I just checked and the youngster A’s CF’er Henry Bolte amassed 139 SB’s in 397 minor league games. That’s some felony thievery. He’s also 2 for 2 in his Big League debut. He could turn out to be a genuine headache for the opposition.
Yeah, Pugs, I mentioned last night that the fans who were seated beyond the OF fence in lawn chairs looked like they’d really found a perfect spot to enjoy a baseball game on a beautiful spring evening. I could almost smell the green grass.
I thought Scott was going to be able to rob that but too far away to have a chance. Well there goes the lead real quick.

The A’s Tiger Tank blasts the GS to make it a 4-1 game. Now a double off the bat of Thomas. I’d keep a close eye on Liberatore. The Redbirds still have time to launch a comeback. Don’t want to let it get out of hand.
Libby was going strong with a low pitch count til 4th inning but things suddenly turned. A grand slam homer ands its 4-1.
Lots of uncompetitive pitches from Libby. Down 4-1, I’m gonna tune out and start to wind down to sleep. Bring me a comeback, folks!
And Pages tells me to shut up with the leadoff flare base hit to RF. This game’s still well within reach.
Cardinals have now collected 12 hits in this baseball game. Somehow that total ought to generate more than 2 runs…
