Gorman needed to set his feet there and throw that. He took quite a few running steps and j think would have had a much better throw planted
May 13, 2026 at 9:43 pm #307354Did any one else think Church could have caught that liner in the fourth?
May 13, 2026 at 9:43 pm #307355KCB back to your earlier comment. Libby’s curveball is looking really nice tonight. Despite 5 hits he is still at 46 pitches through 4 so quite an efficient outing so far
May 13, 2026 at 9:45 pm #307356My initial thought too, Gags. But Church probably quickly deduced that he had a 50% chance of making the catch and so decided to play it safe. From what I see early on, I trust both his glove and his judgement.
May 13, 2026 at 9:45 pm #307357Yeah, Albert, it looked like he may have been aware of the baserunners speed and it caused him to rush the throw to 1B.
May 13, 2026 at 9:48 pm #307358He may have had a decent chance to squeeze it Gags, but I think he made the right decision by playing it safe and fielding it on one hop. If he dives and it gets by him, the baseball’s probably still rolling around somewhere out there in LF.
May 13, 2026 at 9:53 pm #307359When that baseball left Burleson’s bat I thought it was way out of the ballpark. Shows what I know.
May 13, 2026 at 9:54 pm #307360Fair point you guys. I wondered if being eaten up by that one ball got Gorman in his head a bit on that throw.
May 13, 2026 at 9:56 pm #307361This stadium here in Sacramento looks pretty quaint, which I find perfect for baseball. When I was in grade school I would go stay with my grandmother in Portage, Wisconsin for a couple weeks during summer vacation. I never missed a night of heading on over to their fairgrounds to watch men’s underhand fast pitch. These guys played with such intensity……it was fantastic entertainment.
May 13, 2026 at 10:01 pm #307362I just checked and the youngster A’s CF’er Henry Bolte amassed 139 SB’s in 397 minor league games. That’s some felony thievery. He’s also 2 for 2 in his Big League debut. He could turn out to be a genuine headache for the opposition.
May 13, 2026 at 10:05 pm #307363Yeah, Pugs, I mentioned last night that the fans who were seated beyond the OF fence in lawn chairs looked like they’d really found a perfect spot to enjoy a baseball game on a beautiful spring evening. I could almost smell the green grass.
May 13, 2026 at 10:07 pm #307364I thought Scott was going to be able to rob that but too far away to have a chance. Well there goes the lead real quick.
May 13, 2026 at 10:09 pm #307365Great description, TD! But what’s not great is the granny that Kurtz just planted onto the green grass just beyond the center field fence……I think there’s grass out there.
May 13, 2026 at 10:09 pm #307366The A’s Tiger Tank blasts the GS to make it a 4-1 game. Now a double off the bat of Thomas. I’d keep a close eye on Liberatore. The Redbirds still have time to launch a comeback. Don’t want to let it get out of hand.

ParticipantLibby was going strong with a low pitch count til 4th inning but things suddenly turned. A grand slam homer ands its 4-1.
May 13, 2026 at 10:12 pm #307368Liberatore’s obviously rattled. I’d go take the baseball away from him.
May 13, 2026 at 10:19 pm #307369Lots of uncompetitive pitches from Libby. Down 4-1, I’m gonna tune out and start to wind down to sleep. Bring me a comeback, folks!
May 13, 2026 at 10:24 pm #307370Worst part of that CS is Pages leading off with Scott on deck in the 7th.
May 13, 2026 at 10:35 pm #307372And Pages tells me to shut up with the leadoff flare base hit to RF. This game’s still well within reach.
May 13, 2026 at 10:37 pm #307373Victor’s not at all making a strong case for playing time.
May 13, 2026 at 10:38 pm #307374Making a little noise in the 7th.
May 13, 2026 at 10:42 pm #307376We got Sgt. Schultz’ nemisis working for the A’s…
May 13, 2026 at 10:44 pm #307377Walker offers up at 2 pitches out of the strike zone to begin the important AB.
May 13, 2026 at 10:48 pm #307378Cardinals have now collected 12 hits in this baseball game. Somehow that total ought to generate more than 2 runs…
May 13, 2026 at 10:51 pm #307379Winn prevents it from getting through to the OF and saves the run, but the Cardinals are in serious trouble with baserunners aboard at 1B and 3B with no outs. We need Houdini to show up out on the pitcher’s mound.
