In the box I see 3 RBI’s apiece from the 3, 4, and 5 slots for a total of 9 runs pushed across HP from the teeth of the batting order. That’s how it oughta’ be. Almost reminds me of Pujols, Edmonds and Rolen. Almost, but not quite.

April’s almost in the rear view and every member of the NLC continues to boast a W/L record that’s situated above sea level. I’m not sure if that’s uncommon, but I’d guess that it would be after playing right at 30 games.

Win tomorrow gets ’em to 3-3 in this stretch of 17.

Re Bruihl…Maybe he gets DFA’d after Wednesday to make room for Dobbins and then they bring up Zimmerman as the second lefty? His K’s are up from last year. Really too bad in many ways that Naughton is out. Really nothing there in lefty relief at Memphis just now. Hard to demote Fernandez after his last outing, and not clear that losing Bruihl would cost much.

    Bikemike-

Got it. Could be. Dunno what conversations there were about how his arm was doing, though. That’s an awfully big change from his regular pattern.

Ah bicyclemike, i guess we will have to wait n see. I was thinkin they might finish ahead of us but sometimes the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Yeah Gags, I am sure the Pirates got more from Dotel than they had planned but did not want to push it further. And who knows, Dotel may have said he felt he should not go any longer. Who knows – I would have kept him going had he been good with it, plus I would have kept the other pitchers in there for more than an inning. I think when you have a guy that gets a 1-2-3 inning, and is thus warm and in a rhythm, keep him out there. This “rule” that relievers should only go one inning is silly to me.

I think about pitcher usage today like 1TD thinks about the ghost runner rule – it is a silly practice. The ghost runner rule does not really bother me, but using 6 pitchers or more per game when you are holding the opponent to a low score kind of grates on me.😁
