Horwitz spanks a leadoff single here in the 5th. Let’s pray Leahy doesn’t come unraveled here and blow the golden goose that’s been bestowed upon him…..ah! Now an infield hit has Pittsburgh thinking big…..not what we needed. I’d give my left pinky for a 6-4-3 twin killing right here……..sweet! and thar she is…..not of the 6-4-3 variety, but rather the 4-6-3…..that we’ll gladly take.

Thanks for the tip, Cardinal in France!

The Cards have a couple 5 run wins this year, but have yet to win by 6. It would be great to get a wipeout, rest the key relievers a bit more, and wear down the Bucs’ pen a bit more.

Pugs–they had grilled asparagus tonight and I went for that instead of the broccoli. Just wanna make sure I get the record right.

This outing by Leahy makes me, well, a bit less inclined to swap him with Dobbins. Between Fernandez last night and Leahy today; Svanson only walking 1 in his last three games after 5 in the two before….are we seeing some good work by the pitching coaches?

Fantastic trade Gags! Going with the grilled asparagus over the broccoli is a trade that Frank “Trader” Lane would have been proud of. Gags, Cardinal in France and Albert win Healthy Din-Din of The Day honors.

Yeah, those sugary drinks are indeed not good. We still cheat now and then but get the 7.5 ounce “mini’s” and will have one of those on occasion. And I have to admit when road tripping it I really enjoy a Coke or Dr Pepper – regular size. But we keep those to a few here and there.

Nice game so far. We don’t play too many easy games. Seems we win our share of the tense ones, and get blown out on occasion. But we rarely blow out the opposition. Hope we can keep this one safe and not have any drama.

Well a “Cruz missile” gets the Bucs on the board.

    O. Cruz with a bomb to center to open the Pirate 6th. Better get the pen up and going.

Oh oh….Reynolds now with a 2 run tater and just like that our 6 run lead has been sliced in half…..get him out of there.

Yikes – lead cut in half real quick. Leahy got the pitch up and O’Hearn jumped all over it.

Bucs hitting everything Leahy is tossing up there now. And on comes Graceffo.

Was it Reynolds or O’Hearn, BicycleMike?

Another nice double play to limit the damage! You watch this club and it is clear to see how valuable Winn is. He really makes some plays and with that arm he is a huge difference maker.

Huge hit from Walker to drive home Herrera. 7-3 now with a chance for more.

Walker another rbi base hit…..his 3rd tonight. We get a run back and looking for more as Gorman strolls towards the dish. Gorman’s slow roller to 1st scores another Redbird tally….8-3 Cards…..8-3 Cards…..I think Rat predicted that score….wow Rat never ceases to amaze…..oh oh Rat’s prediction goes right down the drain with a Winn rbi single…..9-3 Cards in what now is pretty darn close to be classified as a laugher.

German avoided the strikeout and was able to get a run home on an infield tapper. Cards taking advantage of the free passes and bringing those guys around.

For the Pirates this game is on Kelly again to some degree. His weird managing last night where he only went four innings from a starter who was cruising with a perfecto, then using up his bullpen has resulted in having to keep a reliever out there longer than you would had your ‘pen been more rested.

Barco is close to getting yanked. Boy if this was 1996 instead of 2026, what a match-up that would have been in those crazy Braves-Pirates playoff series…..Barco vs The Crime Dog.

I mentioned this before one time but Graceffo really reminds me of Jake Woodford in the way he delivers his pitches.

Chandler going tomorrow is tough. They will have the pitching advantage in the final two.

I’m glad Burly was intently watching Goldy ply his trade over at 1st last year. Burly is getting pretty darn good at scooping those low throws out of the dirt.

Scotty definitely had his Wheaties today. That homer he hit earlier was a monster and now Cruz in center robs him of a triple on a nice running catch on the track.
