Cards blow an opportunity for a big inning. Saggesse with the big hit but then Noot and Gorman choke by popping out. We may regret not scoring more there.
July 5, 2025 at 1:43 pm #286465Cardinal rule to not walk the leadoff batter…….maybe Libby should be fined.
July 5, 2025 at 1:43 pm #286466Yeah, that would be nice if he could orchestrate something along those lines, Mort. It would also be nice if he was the sort of shrewd and savvy type of bargainer who could trade for an Adam Wainwright or sign a pitcher like Chris Carpenter for 300K…Haha!
July 5, 2025 at 1:47 pm #286467Libby on his hands and knees begging for trouble here in the 1st, as his 2 walks will attest to…..bases crammed with cubs and just 1 out.
July 5, 2025 at 1:50 pm #286468Libby whiffs Dansby and then induces “Machine Gun” Kelly to loft a lazy fly to Burly in right to escape unscathed.
July 5, 2025 at 1:51 pm #286469Well the Cubs did not hit a homer that inning so things are already looking up.
July 5, 2025 at 1:54 pm #286470Both RF’ers making it look like it’s a battle out there.
July 5, 2025 at 1:55 pm #286471That was NOT a great catch by Tucker. The crowd noise would indicate a 9-10, but in reality it was the epitome of average…..call it a 7-10.
July 5, 2025 at 1:56 pm #286472Haha…Yeah, gscottar, there’s always a sunnyside.
July 5, 2025 at 2:02 pm #286473Well the Cards once again can’t get the big two out hit and strand two more runners.
With the wind blowing out at 14mph today I can almost guarantee you that 2 runs will not be enough. My guess is that we are going to need at least 8.
July 5, 2025 at 2:03 pm #286474We need to start flexin our muscles vs this cubbie righty. Still 2-0 Good Guys as we venture to the bottom of inning #2.
July 5, 2025 at 2:04 pm #286475Busch picking up where he left off yesterday…..the first homer Libby has yielded this year to a lefty.
July 5, 2025 at 2:05 pm #286476Libby doesn’t look sharp today. Been behind almost every hitter.
July 5, 2025 at 2:09 pm #286477He is also getting squeezed by the homeplate ump. Someone will probably get tossed before this game is over.
July 5, 2025 at 2:29 pm #286478Cards flexen their muscles with Gorman going yard…..3-1 Cards.
July 5, 2025 at 2:30 pm #286479That tater off the bat of Gorman traveled a long way for an oppo HR.
July 5, 2025 at 2:33 pm #286480Does Tucker ever catch a fly ball without at least taking a little hop? Amazingly that’s all it takes sometimes to get the fans ohhhhhing and awwwwwing.
July 5, 2025 at 2:34 pm #286481Although he’s somehow managed to make the play for the put-out, Tucker’s been spun around the wrong way on everything that’s been hit his way today.
July 5, 2025 at 2:42 pm #286482What a truly amazing stat. Three cubbies, Lieber in 1949, Moises Alou and then Busch yesterday, have been the only cubbies in this long rivalry to hit 3 homers in a game vs the Cardinals…..all occurred on July 4th.
July 5, 2025 at 2:44 pm #286483If this game remains close then we have little chance for victory. We need a big inning.
July 5, 2025 at 2:46 pm #286484That is amazing, Pugs. Especially the fact that all 3 instances occured on Independence Day. Those sorts of coincidences seem to only occur in the game of baseball.
July 5, 2025 at 2:49 pm #286485Yeah it knocked my socks off when I saw that, TD. The odds on all 3 occurring on the same date is astronomical. Then as you stated, it happening on Independence Day further adds to the mystic of it all. Makes one think that if you build it…..he really will come.
July 5, 2025 at 2:55 pm #286486In regards to coincidences, I was floored when I first learned that two pretty good LH’ed hitters were both born on Nov. 21st in Donora, PA. They’re also both members of the baseball HOF. One’s called “The Man” and the other’s called, “The Kid”…Haha! Only in the game of baseball…
July 5, 2025 at 2:58 pm #286488Equally astounding, TD. Who was the kid? Wasn’t Gene Hackman born in Donora too?
July 5, 2025 at 3:07 pm #286489I just looked up the population of Donora, PA and it’s a miniscule 4500. If you want your son to be a HoF baseball player or a world renowned movie star, you better move to Donora ASAP.
