Gorman gets a nice swing on a lefty thrown out at second. How long do you think Noot will be on the DL?
June 28, 2025 at 5:48 pm #285915Yeah, there was no question about it, jj. Hit it like he was mad at it.
June 28, 2025 at 5:51 pm #285916Nice getting Kwon for the first out. Can be a pesky hitter. Maton didn’t do us any favors in the 8th.

jj-cf-stlParticipantCongrats Svanson
June 28, 2025 at 5:53 pm #285918No fuss, no muss for Helsley…Never any doubt.
June 28, 2025 at 5:57 pm #285919Helsley needed an outing like that.
Great to see.
Jeesh…did Contreras murder that HR or what?June 28, 2025 at 5:58 pm #285920Wow, coming back from a 6-1 deficit on the road is no easy task (unless you are playing at Coors this year).
This club has certainly shown a lot of grit.
June 28, 2025 at 6:07 pm #285921Glad we got the win today. Keep that pressure on the Cubbies and Brew Crew.
As for the backup CF discussion I don’t view Hampson as any kind of upgrade over Barrero. He is just another future DFA. This organization is in desperate need of RH OF’s who can actually play the game.
June 28, 2025 at 6:16 pm #285922The Padres came from behind and beat the Reds. 6-4 San Diego your final at Crosley Field.
The Brewers won over Colorado. 5-0 Milwaukee your final at County Stadium.
The Cubs and Astros are just getting started down in Houston at the Astrodome.
June 28, 2025 at 6:22 pm #285923That was a real nice W to claw back and win a game in which the Redbirds trailed by a score of 6-1 in the visitor half of the 5th. They deserve a lot of credit to climb out of a hole that deep in a game played on the road.

jj-cf-stlParticipantThose innings where Scott and Winn are running the bases are really enjoyable.
June 28, 2025 at 6:31 pm #285925Especially when they come around to cross HP which happened twice today with the added bonus of 3 RBI’s between the two of them.
June 28, 2025 at 6:44 pm #285926It’s my guess that Vogt is taking more than a little heat after this loss. He went out and took the baseball from Cecconi with 2 outs in the 5th immediately after he induced Burleson to hit what looked like a weak and harmless pop fly that dropped into shallow LF for a 2 RBI single to place the score at 6-3. I was pleasantly surprised when the Cleveland manager made that ill-fated decision while still holding on to a 3 run lead with 2 outs and only 1 baserunner aboard in the visitor half of the 5th.

jj-cf-stlParticipantAfter todays win our road record is 20-21 w/l. The win also totals the June w/l at 13-13.
June 28, 2025 at 7:12 pm #285928Tomorrow’s game will once again afford the Cardinals another chance to eclipse the season high water mark of 8 games over even. I’m not entirely certain, but I think it will be the 4th opportunity to acheive 9 games over .500 this season. In any case, jj reminded me that a W would also place them at .500 on the road which would be a nice sort of a daily double for tomorrow’s game.
June 28, 2025 at 7:28 pm #285929Considering how consistently well Donovan has hit all season long, I’m surprised that he’s only collected 31 RBI’s. I mean, he leads the team in hits, doubles and BA by a pretty wide margin over all players on the team with over 150 AB’s, but places 6th in the all important area of pushing runners across HP. I’m not offering up any criticism towards Brendan, I’m simply a little surprised that a player who’s hit the baseball exceptionally well all season long hasn’t accumulated a few more RBI’s

jj-cf-stlParticipantWe went 1-5 w/l, and 1-6 w/l during our first two road trips. Uphill since.
June 28, 2025 at 7:32 pm #285931Man, my easy chair in front of the TV downstairs is far too comfortable. I dozed off, we were losing 6-1. I wake up, we are winning 8-6. Sort of a magical storybook tale like CiF’s happy journey through Cleveland. But I’ll take it. At least I got to see Contreras’ late game potato.
Picking up on the earlier posts, I too think the name Guardians sucks. And I miss the smiling Indian, with no prejudices whatever.
June 28, 2025 at 7:33 pm #285932Yeah, I’m unpleasantly reminded of that, jj. Dark days…Haha!
June 28, 2025 at 7:36 pm #285933Haha…Yeah, CIF, how in the heck can anyone not like the remarkably infectious big smile on Chief Wahoo’s face?
June 28, 2025 at 8:04 pm #285936Unfortunately the Cubs are pounding Houston. It’s 8-2 Chicago in the 6th inning at Minute Maid Park down in Houston.
June 28, 2025 at 8:52 pm #285940my guess that Vogt is taking more than a little heat after this loss. He went out and took the baseball from Cecconi with 2 outs in the 5th immediately after he induced Burleson to hit what looked like a weak and harmless pop fly that dropped into shallow LF for a 2 RBI single to place the score at 6-3. It was a good move by Vogt. Guy was toast and the onslaught was coming. It just wasn’t Cleveland’s staff day after.
June 28, 2025 at 8:56 pm #285941The Rockies lost their 5th in a row today. It’s 2 days before July and they have 18 W’s. I’m expecting Manfred to conjure up some sort of a mercy rule for an entire season.
June 28, 2025 at 9:00 pm #285942It may have possibly been a good move, booyah, except that the reality of the outcome dictates that it wasn’t…
June 28, 2025 at 9:08 pm #285944Some nice work from Matz today in his 1.2 IP’ed. I’ve been fully expecting him to entirely scatter at any time, but he just keeps proving me wrong over and over again. I hope the lefty continues doing so.
