    Hmmmmm…….

Here we are less than an hour from today’s game and no posts in this game thread.

    What is happening here???

Everybody give up on the team already???

Everybody think the Cubs are a lock for the division???

Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch tuning in for this one. Our din-din today will be a Hungry Man’s Salisbury Steak TV dinner. Along with some deviled eggs, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, and a chocolate shake. Then a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar after din-din is over.

And from a meteorological perspective all appears to be clear in the greater Cleveland area. I believe this one should be played without any issues.

However, there does appear to be a big pile of green stuff that is about an hour or two away from the greater St. Louis metropolitan area.

Also, things appear all clear in Cincinnati where the Padres clash with the Reds at Crosley Field.

Cubs finally playing another really good team! 🙂

But it looks like Yelich is back on his PED’s after 2 seasons off of ’em. This is gonna be a tight 3 team race to the finish. I would be happy with a wild card spot at this point.

I can only speak for myself, but I’d be way more interested in this game if the opposing team was still known as the Indians…What the heck sort of a name for a baseball team is “The Guardians” anyway? Were they legally appointed by a court of law to care for someone who’s incapacitated, or are they the legal guardians of some sort of estate? The whole thing seems stupid to me. I’d like to continue to call them the Indians and I’d also like to see them wear that nice cap with that big smile of our old friend Chief Wahoo embroidered on the front of it. The smiling Chief was more along the lines of a baseball game than any guardian will ever hope to be…

The name has some sort of regional significance, kinda like the Padres being named for their grat Pacific Coast league AAA team. (no details known for me)

It’s nice to see Scott back in CF. If he’s indeed going to be the player you’re going to place out there in the most important position in the OF, it’s my view that he needs to man up out there on an everyday basis. It doesn’t do anything good for the team or for the confidence of the young Victor to platoon him with some 30 year old guy who can’t even stay latched on with the Rockies or Marlins.

1td, I read a story about the name change awhile back.

“The team chose “Guardians” to connect with the city and its iconic landmarks, the Guardians of Traffic statues on the Hope Memorial Bridge.”

Of course the Washington Redskins also changerd their name to Commanders. Those two teams changing their name doesn’t really matter to me. Now if they come after my KC Chiefs I might have a problem with it..ha!

The regional significance makes sense, Carter, because last night’s game looked as though the Cleveland bats were placed under the guardianship of Sonny Gray’s right arm…In any case, I still like Chief Wahoo.

Yeah, gscottar, the Redskins fiasco may eclipse the lunacy in Cleveland.

5-1 Cleveland in the last of the 4th.

One run through four innings. Once again we don’t have anybody that can hit.

He just lofted that one up there for a 2 run homer. 5-1

Miles is completely missing his spots and up in the zone. It’s like batting practice. 6-1

It’s kind of funny for me on the Indians name change to Guardians. At first I thought, “What, that just does not sound right.” But even though it has only been two or three seasons, it has really become natural to me now. Maybe being back there last summer and going to a game helped. The organization still welcomes fans in gear with the old Indians name and logo on them, but it seems most fans have moved on.

Name changes come with pro sports. Originally the pro basketball team out here were the Denver Rockets. Then they went to “Nuggets” and it was the same thing – I was like “Nuggets”? What a dumb name.

The New York Jets were originally the New York Titans. The Houston Oilers became the Tennessee Oilers, then in sort of a full circle deal became the Tennessee Titans.

Time moves on and we all survive the changes.

We don’t have a starter today that can pitch.

Thankfully the pen is well rested.

I’ve lost the satellite signal as it is now pouring here in SW Indiana. I came in to check the computer and boom, we were down 5-1.

It’s funny though. The Doppler Radar doesn’t show anything in our area but it’s still raining buckets.

And a seemingly harmless little pop fly falls in and places us right back in the game.
