Looks like these Guardians have no intention of slipping below .500. But Mikolas is good for that if you are the opponent.

Nice to see the Cardinals serve notice that they have no intentions of going quietly.

Yes! Who says Scott can’t hit LHP’ing?

Bases Loaded no outs for the Redbirds on 4 straight hits. 6-4

I guess we do have some people that can hit.

I was afraid the whiz-kid was going to counter with PH’er Manny Motter…

That’s a 5 run inning and an 8-6 lead, Redbird fans. Now let’s see some nice work from the BP arms.

I was about to mouth off about this game. Not in a good way. Glad I declined and kept watching.

Still thinking about Scott and how he ripped that first pitch slider from the lefty for a 2 RBI double. Huge hit for the team and for the young CF’er. If it was up to me, Manny Motter wouldn’t see another inning in CF. I still can’t get over the Redbird manager sitting Scott for the final 2 games against the Cubbies in StL. That was a genuine boy wonder managing move.

I disagree 1TD. Scott was struggling badly and needed a couple days off to regroup. And having Hampson gives the team a good defensive CFer who is at least acceptable against left handed pitching. If that helped Scott regroup and do better, I’m all for it.

So, don’t you think the whiz-kid should have PH Manny Motter ll against the lefty Herrin in the 6th, Jnevel? If it were up to me, I’d DFA him yesterday…

A young Lane Thomas type would fit us well going forward. Pham, Siani, Barrero, Hampson is a lack of good depth.

I agree, they could all be Manny 👀

Victor Scott has been one of the worst hitters in baseball against lefties this season (203 of 231 with 50 plate appearances).

I’d rather Ollie have anyone hit for Victor Scott against a lefty in a key situation when possible. And Hampson finally gives him that luxury because Barrero did not look good in CF.

He also just needed a few days off which is why the team acquired a cheap backup they can later DFA.

He didn’t look like the worst in the 6th…He jumped all over that first pitch slider from the lefty. And I’d have to say it was in a key situation. Thank goodness the whiz-kid gave him a chance to do so. In my view, the Cardinals are a better team when Scott is the CF’er on a daily basis. It’s also my best guess that Hampson won’t have a Big League job by the end of July.

Hampson is an elite fielder. He’s basically as good as Scott or Siani. But he’s a terrible hitter against righties and just a somewhat poor hitter against lefties. The point is that Scott was really struggling and needed the rest and Mozeliak did the right thing to acquire a player who could take a couple of games at CF and Ollie did the right thing to put Hampson on the lineup card to give Scott the break he needed. It’s hard to prove whether or not that helped, but it sure seems to have done so.

If we don’t get a crooked number, the Helsley forecasts wont be kind. Tack on boys.
