An ok start by Pallante. He really didn’t have his command and wasn’t throwing strikes, but he made pitches at times when needed. Problem though is 4 1/3 isn’t what we needed in a double header game. I’m surprised they didn’t throw Graceffo here since they he is only on the roster today as the 27th man.
Pages steps up and ties it. Ground rule double robs Pages of another RB I that Winn typically scores on.

Again, I know I’m in the vast minority here and everywhere, but the last couple innings are examples of why I like Pages more that Herrera at catcher. Key timely double, baserunner thrown out, then a base runner picked off. Pitchers love him for a reason. Many similarities to Yadi.
Pages coming in trying to tell me I am wrong. Really good job by Pages to come off the bench unexpectedly and delivers some really timely doubles.
Further evidence as Pages drives in 2. He’s not a good hitter. But he’s always been a timely big moment hitter. I love that kid.
Pages had always been one of you and Jnevel’s favs, so I was surprised to read your earlier comment on him, Albert. Boy are we getting production out of our catching position so far.
Yes C has been a very bright spot out of the team so far between both Herrera and Pages. Hoping Herrera is fine as Crooks needs more time to develop.
Speaking of hot hitting Cardinal catchers, our old friend Carson Kelly has sure been tearing it up for the north siders so far this season…..hoping that doesn’t last long.
I think if Herrera goes to the IL for 10-30 days, then it will be Pozo getting the call-up. He’s expendable if they need a roster spot later.
If he’s day-to-day, then maybe Contreras gets a start at C.
I know it’s not for the series, but mini brooms are totally allowed for double header sweeps. I sure would love to unleash one of those rascals today.
I haven’t had that privilege since……since…?……did we sweep a twin bill last year?Sure would be nice to send one sailing over the GM (that’s “Green Monster” to the layman) for a bit of insurance.
Donovan had no prayer whatsoever of turning that into a double…..our 1st base coach should have recognized that. We could have possibly tacked on another run or two. Those miscalculations can come back to nip you on the keester.
The OF as a whole has looked good especially LF with Noot. Walker in particular looks to be taking much better PAs and is laying off tough pitches. Hopefully as that continues he starts to make better quality contact as he has been hitting a lot of choppers. I don’t want him to change his approach now though and focus on the swing decisions first and over time make small adjustments to select better pitches to drive.
It’s so comforting when you have the likes of a Michael Siani patrolling center field……wish Michael could hit a lick.
Oh oh……we’re in some serious trouble now. 2nd & 3rd with a run in and just 1 out. Helsley can whiff 2 straight at the drop of a hat though.
