Pallante needs to step up today and bring home the cheese.

Hopefully Winn and Contreras break out today and no one else goes in the tank.

Contreras may need a couple of days off to reset his brain. It’s got to be all mental for him at this point.

Hope these guys all ate their Wheaties this morning after yesterday’s pounding. On any normal day 9 runs should result in a W.

Need to get back the positive momentum as we have lost 3 of 4, and looked kind of shabby in doing so. Giving away games where we outhit the opposition and put up a lot of runs is frustrating.

Weather looks poor in BeanTown this afternoon.

It sure does and and I’ve been led to understand that the worst of today’s rain is slated for right around game time.

The Doppler Radar shows a ton of green stuff in the Boston area as I type this. It also shows there might be some clearing around game time. I expect we will see a delay in this one.

Here in SW Indiana we are getting a Noah type rain and flood.

And Front Row Amy was not in attendance last night during the Reds and Brewers game.

Lots of rain here in StL. too. It’s to the extent of having to keep tabs on the basement. When the ground’s this saturated the hydrostatic pressure comes into play. If I keep an occasional eye on it I can squeegee the water towards a nearby drain before it gets out of hand and it’s no big deal. If I forget to check on it it’ll eventually spread out over a larger area and I’ll have to run out a power cord and use a wet vac. When that happens, I always say a lot of really bad words…

Based on what I have seen of the weather forecast for Boston I think they should try to play a DH tomorrow.

In 5+ innings for Milwaukee, Connor Thomas has allowed 12 hits and 12 earned runs. I thought it was a strange Rule 5 pick when they took him from the Cards. He’s better than these results, but I don’t see him ever having good results unless something dramatically changes with him. His stuff is very ordinary and while his command is solid, it just isn’t good enough to get that mediocre stuff to play up.

Didn’t Johnny’s proposed successor wander over to the Cardinals from the Red Sox organization? His first name is what I’d term as rare, and I always get Chaim Bloom mixed up with actress Claire Bloom when I see the guy’s name in print. I remember her in the film, “The Spy Who Came in From the Cold”, which also starred Richard Burton, who was purported to have been an outstanding rugby player in his youth. At any rate, maybe Mr. Chaim will not be as proficient as is Johnny at handing off Cardinal talent to other teams.

A reminder that plans change. Herrera is catching Pallante today.

We need to give Fitts fits today and knock him around then knock him out.

Less than an hour to game time and we still need an indignant scoff at the lineup and the proposed shuffle. Lets go people, Ollie didn’t magically double in smartness.

Will the weather allow them to play? Scoff…

I’m not a fan of Pages getting 2 of 3 starts in a series. The Cards are going to give him way too much playing time taking away PAs from Herrera. Herrera’s arm is bad, but his framing and blocking are average at least. With as hot as he has been hitting, they need to ensure Herrera is the one getting most starts. His bat will provide more runs over Pages than Pages arm will prevent compared to Herrera’s.

I’m surprised they got out of that with no runs. Pallante struggling with command, but still forcing hitters to pound the ball in the ground. Really athletic play by Herrera at the plate to prevent a throwing error on Arenado and allowing the run to score.

Well that is not good. Herrera limping off the field. I thought I saw him limping after the Arenado single to pick up his helmet. With Pages catching this game now, maybe they throw Contreras back there game 2 as that would be a very long day for Pages to catch both games.

The Herrera injury didn’t look good. Is Crooks going to get the call up?

Really need to grab this first one. Win this and the second game is a bonus with a win. Just get out of town above .500.
