Jnevel, earlier you said Burly is a good high ball hitter. I had the same thought, but if you go look at Burly’s BA by zone ( a few rows down), Burly has actually been a really good low ball hitter.

I’m surprised Libby pitched the 7th, but overall a great start against the rival team with a great offense.
Burly is really stroking it. Hopefully he’s coming into his own…….if so we have ourselves a real dandy on our hands.
Albert – I stand corrected. But it sure seems like when he hits it really well, they are up. He just about got a double on one up a couple minutes ago, but he got robbed by a good dive by the Cubs first baseman.
I’m curious. Is this the last time Munoz can be called up? If so, it’s possible he gets optioned again tomorrow when McGreevey pitches meaning Munoz will be a free agent. Not that it matters too much. But it will open a 40-man spot.
What’s not to like about Roddery Hortencia Munoz, as he toes the St. Louis rubber here in the 9th in an 8-2 Redbirds ballgame.
Jnevel, Munoz has been optioned 4 times this year. I don’t know if getting to 5 is the limit (so next option he would be a DFA) or if after 5 he cannot be optioned again without being DFAed (so still in the org on the next, but any further requires a DFA)
I think from reading Munoz would be able to be optioned this time and then afterwards he would require a DFA

It is after the 5th option (as in you can option a guy 5 times). So we have 1 more time. Not that I’m worried about losing Munoz, but I just thought it was interesting since it might be a 40-man opening.

Yeah, you knew that the run of nice turns from the rotation eventually had to slow down, Bikemike. During that 9 game W streak they went somewhere near a week in which the SP’ers only allowed a total of 2 or 3 ER’s. For a minute or two I thought Bobby Cox was our manager…Haha!
More good news as the Pirates win over the Brewers by a 5-4 score in Milwaukee which places the Cardinals and Brewers in a tie for 2nd place behind the Cubbies with both teams at 3.5 games off the pace in the NLC.
The box claims 27K in attendance for tonight’s game and is a shade shy of Sunday’s attendance for the Red’s game. I’m highly surprised. Someone mentioned yesterday an over/under of 34K and I would have most definitely placed my nickel on the over. In any case, 27K seems remarkably slim and skinny for a Cardinals/Cubs game despite being played on a Monday night. Willie Jr. don’t like that. If it keeps up, he’ll threaten to relocate the team…Haha!

A gentleman’s bet with Booyah…..I’m taking the over on 34K attendance for tomorrow night’s game. I’m predicting 35,813.Pugs! We were both way off. 27,058 was the posted attendance tonight. I was sort of right. Lol
The heat is making a big difference but it’s really the fans who travel from 1 1/2-2 hours away are not showing up. That was the bread and butter of this franchise. They sort of sold off in 23 and threw out a reset in 24 and those fans just are turned off and aren’t coming. This is what it is. Even the Cubs fans are sitting this series out.

The attendance might get a little better but this heat and lack of faith from these so called and anointed BFIB travelling fans is a little alarming.
Yeah Booyah, luckily it was merely a gentleman’s wager and not cash, as you nailed that one. Amazing all of the empty seats for a game vs the cubs. I guess the soaring temps actually do keep many fans away. In general, it appears baseball fans are a bit wimpy compared to football fans, as the later will come on out to the stadium in any adverse conditions.
The heat is real Pugs. We have been at youth ballparks over the last 6 weeks, but “stayed in” yesterday, and missed our first grandkids youth game this season.
With these sizzling temps and storms seeming to be getting more violent, is a retractable roof in the cards for our team in the next 25 years?
It’s not just the weather Pugs. Our fans aren’t the BFIB. They may just be bandwagon.
I wouldn’t go that far. Our fans have come out in droves for the last decade to watch slightly above average baseball but I guess everyone has their breaking point. Ownership and the front office have some work to do to build the trust level back up.
Pugs, they’d have step back and add the support necessary to carry a roofs load, and there isn’t adequate space unless they close streets. The current stadium is tight where it sits so it’s not like terminating 100 park spots “on property” accesses a roof. A new location and stadium eventually, should ask that question.
Do you think mlb will ever get a SoFi cover, over a ballpark? Structurally I love that cover/roof and its permanence. It takes the mechanics and the installation of retractable, and servicing issues, out of it.
