Today’s game presents the Cardinals with an opportunity to reach a season high water mark of 9 games above sea level on June 1st, which I’ve always looked upon as the unofficial first day of summer. At a little more than a month before we enter the dog days I was pleased to see that Helsley looks as though he’s dialed in and set to present himself as the sort of premier closer that this team will require to consistently place W’s into the books. He’s now shaved his ERA down to 3.00 and is among the league leaders in saves. When he’s in command of his assortment of pitches, the hitter has no chance.

We need Fedde to show up big today. Would be fun to reverse the score from Friday.

Wouldn’t you say De Grom would be a nice addition to this list of starters we’ve handed a loss or two to this season?

Skenes, Nola, Wheeler, Valdez, Skenes, Keller, Gore, Nola, Ragans, Gallen, Corbin….. Might as well make it a dozen!

`It sure would be, JJ. With Texas Card & 2 kiddos in attendance, Fedde & Co. should come up big this afternoon in the great State of Texas. Too bad this isn’t an APPLE tv game, as I do find Rat’s rants quite amusing. feDee vs deGrom……it doEsn’t get muCh beTter thAn thAt. And what’s for din-din one may ask?. After the conclusion of today’s affair, I’ll be venturing on over to Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse, where I’ll be opting for a ribeye, mushrooms, baked potato and then for a just dessert, cruising on through Popeye’s drive-thru lane to snag 3 apple cinnamon pies. Go Birds…..win one for Texas Card!

A 2 out Contreras base hit to right stakes Fedde to an early 1-0 advantage. Then Herrera goes the other way with a base hit to right sending Contreras to 3rd……but then Arenado grounds out to retire the side.

Burly could/should have cut that ball off…..leadoff double has the Rangers thinking big here in the bottom of the 1st.

Double steal with 1 out sets the table for Texas scoring multiple runs this inning……let’s stay with the action shall we? On 3-2, Jung is caught looking on one that just nipped the outside corner…..that one could have been called either way. Now Fedde has a glimpse of the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel…….and that light is now coming into full view as Osuna flies out to Nooty in short left…..and the Nootster nearly misplayed that lazy fly ball. 1-0 Cards after 1 complete.

deGrom looks much more like himself as he sets the visitors down 1-2-3 with ease in the 2nd.

Without looking, trying to remember those old Ranger teams from the 70’s that came into Milwaukee County Stadium……Toby Harrah……David Clyde…….pitcher by the name of Knowles…..boy I have a good memory for most teams from that era, but not Texas for some reason.

Fedde is allowing some huge jumps from the base runners.

Ouch…..with 2 quick outs, a single, walk and double puts Texas on top 2-1. Have to get Langford( not to be confused with Lankford) here… and Fedde whiffs him.

Nooty with a leadoff single…..which goes for not, as he’s caught trying to swipe 2nd. Then Winn singles which is quickly erased on the 4-6-3 twin killing.

Fedde looks like he could be that principal from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, kid. 1-2-3 they go in the bottom of the 3rd.
