I wouldn’t hate it if the Cards went to the bullpen in the 7th. They are all super well rested and need work. They probably will stay with Pallante for 1 more though.
May 10, 2025 at 5:02 pm #281662Pallante gets a scoreless 7th and now starts the 8th with a dribbler that evades Gorman’s glove.
May 10, 2025 at 5:03 pm #281663Better walk out there and take the baseball.
May 10, 2025 at 5:05 pm #281664And Crews goes yard making it 4-2. Now we turn to the pen. There was no good reason to keep Pallante in for the 8th here except friendly competition amongst pitchers.
May 10, 2025 at 5:06 pm #281665I was so hoping we’d tack on another 4+ runs after plating those 4 early tallies, as there’s few things that bring me more joy than issuing a “call off the dogs” request. For those newbies here, an official “call off the dogs” summons can only be presented when the Cardinals lead by 8 or more runs after the 5th inning.
May 10, 2025 at 5:06 pm #281666The most recent 4 turns from the rotation have now produced a combined total of 30.1 innings of work and allowed 4 ER’s.
May 10, 2025 at 5:08 pm #281667I can’t think of anything than changes quicker than a 4-0 lead…
May 10, 2025 at 5:13 pm #281668Good pitching by Romero. He gave up a double and walk, but he still was sharp pitching to some of the Nationals best hitters.
May 10, 2025 at 5:16 pm #281669Yeah, he preserved the lead, but for a minute there I was afraid that poodle under his cap was going to bite him.
May 10, 2025 at 5:17 pm #281670Pedro Jose Pages has a way of growing on you.
May 10, 2025 at 5:19 pm #281671Pugs – He grew on me a long time ago. He handles pitchers well. He snap throws behind runners in key moments. He is good at throwing out runners. Solid framing. He makes contact – especially when the situation dictates it. And he often comes through in key moments.
May 10, 2025 at 5:29 pm #281672Another tense moment for Helsley as he faces Bell with 2 down and 1 on.
And a walk brings the winning run to the plate. Never easy.
May 10, 2025 at 5:33 pm #281673Walks Bell and matters are getting a bit hairy…….Helsley will get his man though.
He’s definitely a keeper, Jnevel.
May 10, 2025 at 5:34 pm #281674Careful with this 3-1 pitch.
May 10, 2025 at 5:34 pm #281675I didn’t mean to sail it to the backstop.
May 10, 2025 at 5:35 pm #281676Wow. Helsley doing an Ankiel impression. Bases loaded.
May 10, 2025 at 5:35 pm #281677Never any doubt…
May 10, 2025 at 5:35 pm #281678Ballgame!
May 10, 2025 at 5:35 pm #281679
May 10, 2025 at 5:36 pm #2816807 in a row. That one was a touch more stressful than yesterday.
May 10, 2025 at 5:39 pm #281681We won!
May 10, 2025 at 5:41 pm #281682I’m still trying to grasp the tangible prospect of being just one itty bitty game behind the cubbies by night’s end. How is this legitimately possible? Erich Weisz himself (aka Harry Houdini) couldn’t have pulled this off so quickly.
May 10, 2025 at 5:45 pm #281683Seven in a row is obviously something to get amped about, but what may be even more encouraging is that the last four turns from the rotation have tricked me in to thinking I was watching WTBS in the 90’s.
May 10, 2025 at 5:45 pm #281684Lucky 7! Busy working around the yard and garage today but listened to the KMOX broadcast. Pushed it a little too close at the end, but got ‘er done.
May 10, 2025 at 5:49 pm #281685Gotta love these day games! And another one coming up tomorrow.
