Castellanos ends another rally. Libby at 57 pitches after 3 IP. Going 6 IP is in jeopardy, at this rate.

Scott should do that at least once every game.

A Walker leadoff base hit and a Scott infield bunt single with one out has our Birds chirping loudly here in the bottom of the 3rd. Ouch! Nooty with a short lazy fly to center will not amount to any base advancement, so it’s up to Burly.

Burly whiffs so the game remains scoreless. Well Wheeler dealt a whopping 18 3rd inning pitches…….which is whopping for him. So 32 Wheeler pitches and 57 for our guy…….guess who’s bullpen will most likely be taxed more here today.

Burly has been colder than ice since the 2nd half last year. If Gorman is playing well, I’m giving all those DH PAs Burly gets to Gorman.

Yeah, Pugs, years ago I’d let the bristles grow when the weather cooled off in the late fall and winter, but if I didn’t mow it down in warmer weather I felt like I had fleas. I don’t know how these ballplayers wear those full beards out on the field in the blistering heat of high summer in July and August.

Here here Albert! Ironically I was just thinking the same thing.

Pozo doubles up on the changeup and gets a loud out vs Realmuto. Another changeup gets the second out.

Contreras has been interesting at 1B. The results have been average, but he has had some atypical looking plays to tag or catch the ball.

There’s a quick inning vs righties. Much needed and now Libby at 65 pitches.

8 pitch inning for Libby. That helps with the pitch count. Hoping to get 6 out of him again.

Definitely TD. And I would imagine it would be easy to get food particles stuck in those long beards too…..and maybe most importantly, I’ve never met one woman whom likes those long beards. Negatives abound for having long beards and the only positive aspect would be eliminating the possibility of nipping yourself while shaving.

Marsh’s beard isn’t that bad to me. It is his hair. I don’t know why he wets it between innings as it makes it look like a greasy mess.

Wheeler is smart but a little risky if the Cards try to capitalize. After someone gets out on the first pitch, he grooves one in there on 1st pitch of the next batter and conserves some energy. 95% of the time they are taking there.

Marsh is probably just cooling himself off, Albert……or he sweats a lot.

Marsh does the hair thing always even in cold playoff games in late Oct. It is his style, but he is one player my wife instantly recognizes on TV as she hates the hair. In interviews he has confirmed he pours water on it between innings.

Hopefully this is the start of Contreras heating up. We need his bat

Contreras ramrods a Wheeler offering into the cheap seats in left with Arenado aboad for the glorious ride….2-0 Good Guys.

Contreras spits on the sweeper, then homers. Good recipe.

    Who’s the “sweeper”, JJ?

Gorman’s swing decisions have generally been much better this year. It is early but hopefully the trend continues. That last PA he has some that weren’t great, but he was able to draw the walk.

Walker needs to be hacking at that 2 strike pitch. Was a strike.

After I scolded Libby earlier today, he’s been mighty efficient…….maybe tough love works on Libby.

10 pitch inning by Libby. Looking good and the pitch counts have been much better the last 2 innings. He should be able to go out there for the 6th.
