1:15 p.m.
LHP Matthew Liberatore (0-1, 5.84) vs. RHP Zack Wheeler (1-0, 3.34)
FanDuel // KMOX // WIJRApril 12, 2025 at 8:29 pm #279226The rubber game.
Lose it and drop three games under water.
Win it and take a series off Philly for the first time since 2017.
McGreevey needs to replace Mikolas.
Good to have Gorman back.
Need to replace Siani with a real bat.
The team is just a few bricks shy of a load right now but it feels like they could be something – if not this year then maybe 2026.
April 12, 2025 at 10:58 pm #279228FYI,
The Cubs squeaked by the Doyers last night 16-0. The Doyers first home loss of the season.April 13, 2025 at 7:43 am #279230Ah – Winn to the DL. Back problems in your early 20s does not bode well for a long career.
It’s a shame because he has ‘it’.
April 13, 2025 at 8:18 am #279233Yeah, at 23 years of age, he shouldn’t have any need for new grease fittings. In my view, it’s entirely possible that those two shiny bicycle chains that he always has hanging around his neck while he mans up at SS could be contributing to the presense of added and unnecessary stress and strain on his primary support column…

jj-cf-stlParticipantIf Winn would back off hunting grip and rip pitches he can pull, he’d be doing his back and effectiveness a favor.
He has the talent and tools to hit .300 w/a .350 obp, which I see as his careers best path. Hopefully he matures past the SLG phase quickly and realizes it will happen on its own. He owns RF when it’s his primary approach.

jj-cf-stlParticipantGlad to see Pozo catching Libby again.
April 13, 2025 at 11:56 am #279240How many little weak ground balls or little weak pop flys will Arenado hit in this one?
April 13, 2025 at 12:34 pm #279241
jj-cf-stlParticipantI expect at least one HR, foul.
April 13, 2025 at 12:50 pm #279243This Pozo kid has looked good. He and Pages are kind of clones – both are pretty darn good part time catchers with from what little I have seen, Pozo being a bit better with the stick.
April 13, 2025 at 12:54 pm #279244Oh, and one trend early on seems to be that we usually outhit the other guys, but don’t outscore them all that often.
Kind of an odd deal. I think we are pretty good on offense, just need better timing. If the pitching can gel a little and get better, we might surprise some folks, including ourselves.

jj-cf-stlParticipantThe Pozo pre-game interview detailed the batteries approach today, very well.
April 13, 2025 at 1:21 pm #279246Contemplating a din-din triple header. Of course I had catfish fiddlers on Friday. Then for Game 2 last night, I gulped down another batch of the fiddlers. Then upon awaking this morning, I thought to myself “why not go the distance……why not do the fiddlers for all 3 games”??? So catfish fiddlers it shall be, accompanied by some baked beans, deviled eggs and then a trip on over to the drive-thru lane at Popeye’s for 3 scrumptious apple cinnamon pies.
April 13, 2025 at 1:24 pm #279247I know it’s a Sunday when most aren’t around here, but is anyone else game threading today besides me?
April 13, 2025 at 1:25 pm #279248
jj-cf-stlParticipantChange-up to end the inning. Pozo used all of Libbys pitches, I do believe.
April 13, 2025 at 1:30 pm #279250
jj-cf-stlParticipantThree rhb’s to start the second vs Libby. Could be a barametor for his outing.
April 13, 2025 at 1:34 pm #279251Having a bit of buyer’s remorse……do you think the Rays might take Libby back?
April 13, 2025 at 1:37 pm #279252With 1 down and 1 on, our old pal, Edmundo Israel Sosa pokes a base knock to right……and Edmundo will take liberties on the throw to 3rd and just barely scamper safely on into 2nd.
Libby gets out of the 2nd inning pickle unscathed……maybe we’ll keep him after all……we’ll see how he fares here today vs the visitors from the City of Brotherly Love.
April 13, 2025 at 1:41 pm #279253That thick brushpile protruding from Marsh’s chin could support an entire family of raccoons.
April 13, 2025 at 1:44 pm #279254Boy that wind must be howling in from left as it appeared to do a number on Arenado’s fly ball to left. Any resident weather people here have the greater St. Louis wind velocities on this beautiful Sunday afternoon?
April 13, 2025 at 1:45 pm #279255
jj-cf-stlParticipantLibby used 39 pitches to set down the first nine batters. Could use a quick inning or two.
April 13, 2025 at 1:47 pm #279256Gee Wheeler threw 7 pitches in the 1st and 7 in the 2nd. If he keeps that up he’ll toss…….let’s see 7 times 9 is……..56….no…….63…….63 pitches just might set a ML record for 9 innings. We just may have to check with Skippy and all of our good friends over at the esteemed Elias Sports Bureau for the answer to that burning question.
April 13, 2025 at 1:50 pm #279257Ha! That “thick brushpile” is quite the sight for sore eyes, TD. I’ve had a beard myself for years, but I trim it every morning so it looks like I just haven’t shaved in a couple of days…..kind of gives me that tough guy look that some of the ladies kind of dig. I haven’t really benefited from that yet, but it does lend me some hope.
April 13, 2025 at 1:56 pm #279258Over/under on Wheeler 3rd inning pitches is 11. We’ll see.
