We are in the midst of the most pathetic stretch of Cardinal baseball since the first 34 games of 2023
This bunch is sad sacks for sure.
Someone mentioned the fact that the superior teams have a genuine tendency to really pummel bad teams after the deadline and down the stretch run. The final 2 months could inflict all kinds of carnage on this ’25 Cardinal edition. They not only have a very inferior team, but it also wouldn’t surprise me too much if this group packs it in and doesn’t even display a respectable effort. It could get really dreadful these last 51 games.
And in regards to superior teams, 12 of the next 15 Cardinal games are against the Padres, Dodgers, Cubs and Yankees. Might need something similar to a battlefield triage before the conclusion of all those games.
Sadder yet, not only do we have a mediocre team there is little evidence management is making a serious effort to become a better team. Keeping Mo on for a year-long going-away party simply wasted an entire season. Sigh!
Good morning. Yes. Dog kicked up a fuss. Then saw the game was still on, so I stopped for a peek. Think I’ll head back to the sack for another hour.
Everyone remain calm. The Marlins are about to pass us in the WC and those pesky Pirates are only 7.5 games back for 4th. Lol
But the Rockies, Angels and one other club are also prohibited from drafting in the Top 9. So, the Cardinals could end up at 13 or lower.
That seems like a stupid rule. They already have a lottery system so that intentionally tanking won’t guarantee you a certain spot.
The Cards are legitimately bad and yet they will probably draft outside the top 10?
The thing that has me the most irritated at the Cardinals is that most the questions we had in 2023 are still unresolved. We still don’t really know what we have / dont have.
The catching position which was supposed to be set with Contreras & Herrera has completely disintegrated.
We have way too many guys that need at bats at DH.
The outfield and the starting rotation are a disaster.
ZTR your points are right on the button! But what really irritates me is those on here who will say Walker and Gorman need another year to see what they can do! Good Grief! Anyone who can’t figure out what they can do by now you have to wonder! This team is way closer to being a bottom feeder than a contender!
Steve I’m not opposed to giving Walker another year – Gorman is 25 and has had plenty of time to blossom.
The next two months are probably his last chance for romance as a Cardinal….
Walker has had 3 years at the MLB level, Gorman has had 4 years.
Gorman has accumulated 3.5 Career WAR, has had a high OPS of .805 and a low OPS of .671.
Walker has accumulated -1.9 Career WAR, has had a high OPS of .787 and a low OPS of .609.
Gorman has more defensive value, a higher offensive ceiling and a higher offensive floor.
It’s funny people prefer Walker.
LA Card Fan, I would prefer neither! IMO the only reason either will get another chance is because we have a really bad team and no one better to offer! I do understand why people would prefer Walker though! Gorman has over 1400 mlb at bats! He is 25! He is a finished product imo! Walker has less than 900 at bats and is only 23! He might not be a finished product! Plus he hits close to 250 while Gorman is around 220! Neither will be part of the Cardinals when we start winning again imo! We are stuck with them because we have showed the other 29 mlb teams tbey can’t hit! Just compare what we could have gotten in a trade for both of them three years ago to what we could get now! No comparison!

Walker has hurt the team every year he has played (especially in the outfield in 2023). Gorman has been marginally productive. The difference in AB’s is one season. The same people who were saying the book was closed on Gorman at this time last year are the same people saying we need to give Walker another chance.
If the team wants to win, they need to end the Jordan Walker experience in RF.
No one knows what the new regime will do, but the Cardinals MO as to former hype cadets like
Gorman and Walker is to keep beating a dead horse until they are into their arb years and getting expensive and free agency looms on the horizon. It is clear that neither can handle ML pitching. They will likely get some looks after their time here is over. Longer term. I think Walker ends up in Japan or Korea for a few years and Gorman bounces around the weaker orgs for several years. It is the sort of miscalculations that happen when your org sees a guy launching mistakes into Texas League parking lots and their eyes roll back and they forget that baseball involves anything else.Imagine this: Guy #1: Wow, look at Walker’s exit velo and launch angle. That would sell some tickets in STL. Guy #2: Maybe we should teach him how to foul them off with two strikes before beaming him up. Mo: Guy #2, you are fired due to philosophical differences.

LA name me one, just one mlb player with Gorman’s stats for 1400 at bats who became a solid MOTO bat for a contender! The only one who comes close is Joey Bautista for Toronto! The reason no one names one is there aren’t any! I’m sure we will see both again next year! Everyone knows they can’t play but we have nothing better in minors and can’t trade them because they have no value! Sad really!
