When did it become fashionable to change the rules every season? Pretty soon they’ll make up new rules during the 5th inning of a game.

Yea to me this is just stupid. The only ones that should be making decisions is the players. The players on this panel all voted no but of course got outvoted by non players. It’s the casuals they are going after.

Fairly minor changes. On the ghost runner rule discussed some, I am not a fan. But I can see instituting it later in a game, like say after 12 innings. I think that would be a good compromise as when games drag on in the modern era, you just kill your pitching staff. Back in the day teams had guys in the bullpen that could go 6-7 innings if needed. Today managers never do that – most bullpen pitchers are conditioned to be one and done.

Just read where they are considering mandating that starting pitchers go at least 6 innings. Some caveats in that they can be taken out before if they reach 100 pitches, injury. While i would like to see pitchers going longer, im getting tired of them meddling with things. You have managers for a reason. It appears this is a ways off but the fact they are even thinking about it is rediculous.

Yeah, no way I want to see mandated starting pitcher innings. I am not a big fan of the “opener” practice, but now and then I understand it when a team needs to get through a game here no starters have had four days rest.

I saw that too, but immediately disregarded it. The Players’ Union would never buy in.

Well they have already gotten things past the players union so im sure if they pushed hard enough they could.

I don’t see this one making it past the PA either. No way they sign up for forcing SP to go until 100 pitches as that is the upper limit for most and would likely even further increase injuries.
