November 5, 2020 at 9:56 am #146798BW, I heard you say “Cooperative Bargaining Agreement” again. I wish it was cooperative!! Ha.
Another quality segment, though. I’m glad you brought to attention what several of us have been saying (and Mo finally gave a little clue about)…that 2022 should bring enough salary relief to really make an impact in terms of signing a free agent or making a trade that could really help.
November 5, 2020 at 10:06 am #146801I’ve told Dan this many times. I couldn’t do live radio and TV and do it well. It may seem really easy until you are in it. The realization that many do it day after day, year after year leads me to having a lot of respect for them.
November 5, 2020 at 10:27 am #146802I 100% agree. I’ve done some public speaking and always feel like I sound far less educated when I listen to the tape.
I really do enjoy the segment you do. It’s on my weekly podcast rotation, which has considerably tightened in the last year. So thanks for putting out a quality product.
November 11, 2020 at 9:08 am #147158It’s my weekly visit with @B_Walton to talk #STLCards minor leagues and more. We get into Mets free agent signings, re-org of the MILB affiliates and status of top Cards prospects like Perez and Thompson. Presented by @SchnuckMarkets and @hair_saloon https://t.co/fh2bPgsmwP

November 18, 2020 at 10:51 am #147634The #STLCards sign a catcher and Epstein leaves the Cubs. @B_Walton talks about those moves plus what the Smyly signing means for Adam Wainwright and the Braves. News on minor leaguers playing now too.

November 25, 2020 at 9:45 am #148202A lot about the upcoming Rule 5 draft with @B_Walton this morning on #scoops. A look at the players available and how many spots the #stlcards could look to fill. We chat about Rolen & the HoF ballot too.

December 2, 2020 at 9:27 am #148607With our primary focus on today's non-tender deadline and impact on the #stlcards and across MLB, we also cover the free agent market to date and I close with my view of why – as much as it makes sense to settle quickly – the DH decision for 2021 is continuing to drag out. https://t.co/igRL5MDLVQ

December 3, 2020 at 1:59 pm #148743It was tough to keep quiet about this…

December 3, 2020 at 3:12 pm #148748This was already pretty well known, I think…
I’m being asked (a lot) about the radio side of my career. The word has gotten out here and there, and a formal announcement is coming, but I’ll be hosting a weekday show in the 3-6 pm slot for @590TheFan KFNS. Starts Monday.

December 3, 2020 at 7:45 pm #148766A little of Bernie goes a looooonnnngggg way. To me he’s a shill for the owners.
December 3, 2020 at 9:54 pm #148772And a three-hour show is a long show every day to fill and keep fresh. Big job in itself on top of committing to a daily column…
P.S. FWIW, my perception is that Bernie is more critical than the vast majority of the writers in St. Louis. With that many arrows fired over the years, there were some misses to go with the hits.

I think Bernie is the person who coined the phrase “DeWallet” so I wouldn’t characterize him as a shill for the owners. He has criticized Cardinal ownership and front office plenty of times, but he will occasionally give them praise too.
December 9, 2020 at 9:11 am #149132We dive into #STLCards minors news w/ @B_Walton. Changes to Johnson City, State College & around @MiLB. What could happen w/ prospects like Thompson, Cabrera, Williams, Dean and Sosa this off-season too?

December 23, 2020 at 9:21 am #150185News on new @memphisredbirds ownership and #STLcards affiliate teams here with @B_Walton. Also, could we see Nolan Gorman and Zac Thompson sooner than we thought? And will Sosa have a role in 2021?

December 30, 2020 at 9:07 am #150802So, what do you think, #stlcards fans? Should Dylan Carlson be your leadoff man, no. 2 hitter or bat cleanup? Right now, he might be the best choice for all three. (Is cloning an option?) We discuss this and much more in "Wednesday with Walton" at @scoopsdannymac. https://t.co/iAZ9Flu4UN
— Brian Walton (@B_Walton) December 30, 2020
December 30, 2020 at 9:11 am #150804If Carp has to play I would bat him cleanup. It is his best spot statistically.
Carlson would be good in the 2nd spot behind Edman.
December 30, 2020 at 9:21 am #150805What does it say about your lineup that a guy you would prefer to bench – if he has to play – is your cleanup hitter?
December 30, 2020 at 10:17 am #150809I’d prefer Carlson at leadoff, Edman second. Carlson has had a better BB% at MILB and MLB, than Edman, who basically doesn’t walk. Edman has had a very low GIDP rate at mlb, compared to Carlson…. You see where I’m going, although it’s not a major concern, it’s there.
Depth charts and Steamer expects both to post a .322 obp for 2021. That’s a .015 decrease from Edmans’ mlb career and a .070 increase for Carlson, at mlb, which I think says a lot.
What I don’t want to see is Carlson at cleanup. Get on base (at leadoff or 2nd), hit for average and the power will come naturally. Exactly what TLR told Ankiel when he debuted as a position player.
December 30, 2020 at 10:28 am #150811I like jj’s logic on Carlson/Edman.

It says that I wish we had the financial freedom to get a big upgrade but apparently we don’t.

We need to sign Justin Turner???? (I wish I knew how to do a wink emoji)
