Maybe once a year, you invite several of us posters to join the podcast at once in a special edition. It would probably be an unmitigated disaster. But it would fun to talk about each of our worst site posts/predictions or something along that order. Just keep it light and fun. Pugsley could help moderate the guests.
I also enjoyed Kareem’s takes. He and Blake seem to be very similar in what they look for. It was nice to hear about some guys that we know about, and a few lesser known prospects.

I’ve always liked your line of thinking, Jnevel…..and this only cements those sentiments. With me on board in a moderatortorial capacity, we would delve into matters concerning our Redbirds that are rarely, if ever, covered. You know come to think of it, I’ve known Brian for about 16 years now and not once has he sought my help as his lead moderator…….which quite frankly shocks the daylights out of me.
Good discussion this week and it was nice to hear from Kareem. Ralston is someone I didn’t give much consideration too as I didn’t dig into every prospect, but I agree with Kareem looking at him he will likely get a shot in the majors at some point.
Here we thought you were working on a scoop of all the prospects coming back in trades the Cardinals had lined up!!! 🙂

I must say I very much disagree with Kyle on Wetherholt being in CF. He is a natural infielder and if he moves off SS, it should be to 3B or 2B. The Cards need players everywhere long term, so no point in moving him. We need a 2B and 3B of the future. I don’t see Saggase as the answer at 2B or Gorman at 3B as even if his bat makes it he looks more like a 1B to me. Donovan would be my choice for 2B, but he is one player I feel fine moving around as he is a very versatile player.
It would be a very Cardinal thing to do to jerk Wetherholt around though. I’m sure Bling is cursing the idea.
I was intrigued by the idea of Wetherholt in CF, but who knows if it would ever be considered, let alone him being successful at it. Edman did the transition well at the MLB level.
Every team needs to be as strong as possible up the middle and I don’t see a long-term answer in CF in the system. There are plenty of infield options as noted.
Maybe Victor Scott can surprise, though. I guess it would be better to give that some time to play out first.

That’s a fun development. I have always enjoyed listening to Kyle’s takes on various prospects. Because he watches them so often, he often knows about some unique idiosyncrasies that you can’t find in a stat line.
I teased about jj to CF the week he was drafted. The idea doesn’t seem foreign to me at all. I would disagree w/moving him off the middle positions.
Great podcast. It definitely energized me. I need to focus on how much fun being a fan can be and less on the business of baseball. Thanks Brian.
One of the things I mentioned on the podcast is that every single reliever we spoke with, from Helsley on down, brought up how important Kittredge was to them last season. He made a much greater leadership contribution beyond stats alone. I don’t see a veteran guy to step into that role. It matters.
Not disagreeing, but “veteran presence” is on thin ice for me. On the field, we have setup covered in-house with many, many hopefuls lined up.
For now, should the FO keep JoJo and King right behind Helsley, and when he moves out, they move up? If they don’t succeed, a non-tender is another option.
Arb relievers are short term, and shouldn’t the FO allow them the opp to max their trade value by climbing the reliever ladder?
I’ll take Fernandez over Kitt next season, but he’s also a 0-3 guy that doesn’t need roster managemant.
Preferably, the holds/saves pile up on Helsley and the arbs that are soon leaving, while gaining trade returns.
I expect big things out of Ryan Fernandez in 2025. He could be the closer-in-waiting for whenever Helsley leaves town.

I understand, but this was not a marketing message from the front office to try to justify their questionable roster construction.
This was a bunch of players unsolicited all mentioning the value that one of their peers gave them. That was significant for me to hear over and over.
My advice is to not throw out the baby with the bathwater. Settling young arms into roles and dealing with the inevitable disappointment that comes with being a reliever may matter as much as their talent.
I came away with the strong feeling that replacing Kittredge will be more difficult than just naming names of less proven pitchers and the impact of his departure could affect others.
