Why not get it out of the way. The season is at risk of being almost lost if it’s not up and running by 2nd week of June.
April 21, 2020 at 8:47 am #12715514NyquisTParticipantWait…. what, I just heard that Derek Jeter and J Lo are rumored to be interested in buying the Mets.
April 21, 2020 at 9:57 am #127177You mean ARod and JLo. Jeter taking away his girl would be real news, though!
April 21, 2020 at 7:55 pm #127219EXCLUSIVE: Team J-Rod's chance of buying the @Mets might be buoyed by a coronavirus discounthttps://t.co/yDNXVP5olO

April 24, 2020 at 12:35 pm #127398An update.

June 22, 2020 at 1:10 pm #131166In the earlier deal that fell through with Steve Cohen, a majority stake in the Mets was to fetch $2.6 billion – without the SNY Network and with allowing the Wilpons to remain in control for five years.
The ARod/JLo group trying to buy Mets is said to have Mike Repole, a Queens Village native who went to Holy Cross in Flushing and St. John’s, aboard as partner. Repole has “real money.” Founded Glaceau (Vitaminwater), which sold to Coke for $4B. @darrenrovell 1st mentioned Repole

June 23, 2020 at 2:10 pm #131274IF A-Rod/J-Lo (quite the name for a purchasing group) were to buy the Mets, they would likely have the best looking owners in sports. I mean who would you rather have a business lunch with, J-Lo, or Jerry Jones? 🙂
June 23, 2020 at 2:36 pm #131276Such a bad business baseball is that billionaires are lining up to join…
BREAKING: @Sportico Exclusive: Reuben brothers, with a combined net worth of $14 billion, exploring bid for @Mets https://t.co/q8KXfq4cAP #SportsBiz #MLB pic.twitter.com/Brdkq3Kczj

June 30, 2020 at 11:54 am #131884This will be interesting for multiple reasons including the estimates of franchise values that have the Mets and Cards very close.

July 2, 2020 at 6:49 am #13201414NyquisTParticipantEven the Card’s FO wouldn’t make a deal like this although they’ve been duped several times. I have a great dislike for the Mets but I hope that A-Rod and J-Lo can buy the team. Those two have had good luck with the deals they have made so far.
July 2, 2020 at 7:14 am #132016It could be really entertaining, but MLB has a history of vetoing prospective owners they don’t like. I wonder how the others feel about the two?
July 2, 2020 at 7:30 am #13202014NyquisTParticipantThey are on the short list. NYC, and especially the press, would welcome them being the winners big time.
July 2, 2020 at 7:55 am #132025The press and fans also love Mark Cuban and he was kept out. The owners don’t seem to want big personalities in their club. I wonder if the peer competition with Jeter is a factor in A-Rod’s interest. Quite a contrast in their images, though. Not that long ago, A-Rod lied to, fought with and embarrassed the game and was suspended for an entire year. While he has generally been rehabilitated in the public eye mostly because he is smooth in front of the camera, I have to wonder if the owners can forgive and forget as easily as many fans seem to have. Either way, it should be fun to watch.
July 3, 2020 at 8:25 am #13210514NyquisTParticipantThis is 2020…. Its A-ROD and J-LO man. A lot of people get excited about this… maybe the owners not so much.
July 7, 2020 at 7:50 am #132379As @FoxBusiness reported hedge fund billionaire Steve Cohen is interested in @Mets & amid weak bidding we reported on yesterday he is seen as favorite to buy team. Questions remain including getting control from the Wilpons, poss @SNYtv purchase meaning process is just beginning

July 8, 2020 at 2:27 pm #132500We get bonus in-season “mystery bidders” here in 2020!
July 9, 2020 at 7:31 am #13253414NyquisTParticipantJerry and Julia = mystery bidders? Isn’t Julia a big Orioles fan?
August 13, 2020 at 8:50 am #135033Syndergaard IL (TJ)
Stroman opts out
Wacha IL (shoulder)SP1 de Grom (22 IP, .550 ops allowed)
SP2 Porcello (19 IP, .805 ops “)
SP3 Peterson (16.2 IP, .759 ” “)
SP4 Matz (18.2 IP, .996 ” “)
SP5 Gsellman (3 IP, 1.000 ops allowed)That rotation is “a mess”
August 13, 2020 at 11:24 am #135036I read somewhere that final bids are supposedly due 8/31.
August 13, 2020 at 1:48 pm #135065We can talk about the Mets being a mess, but unfortunately right now the Cardinals are pretty much in the same category.
August 13, 2020 at 2:09 pm #135066The Mets have been this way for years. The Cardinals problems will pass soon enough.
August 16, 2020 at 2:37 pm #135444Several #MLB executives believe that the Alex Rodriguez ownership group, which has shown it has the money, is now the clear-cut favorite to purchase the #Mets. There's an Aug. 31 deadline to provide the best and final bids, according to Sportico.

August 18, 2020 at 7:29 pm #135722Mets rotation takes another hit. Peterson, who is currently the SP2 or 3, to the IL w/shoulder stiffness.
August 28, 2020 at 9:11 pm #137304Not surprising to me. Cohen was close once before.
Steve Cohen has entered exclusive negotiations to buy the NY Mets and is expected to reach a deal to purchase the team within days, according to people familiar with the process. Other bidders, including the group led by Alex Rodriguez, are no longer in pursuit of the club.
