    “Moe is a terrible POBO.”

Wally, that’s trolling. You are trolling Shady, who is looking for a fresh start, and you are trolling the forum with your broken record about Mo, and the spelling.

    Not a good start.

    U-Conn,

    1) This forum is for us, not Mo. If Mo doesn’t care, why should we?
Turning away from an issue is not moderating.

You are too nice. When the members have to take on moderator duties… Well, you remember. I’m reminding you I have a short fuse about trolling.

The spelling “Moe” bothers some of us posters. If allowed, it will get worse. Attacking Mo starts the trend, then attacking other posters will follow.

@jj-cf-stl … an intentional misspelling of a name to show one’s distaste for the POBO/GM of the club has you up in arms, but the use of a Biggoted/Klan member as a handle (WallyButterworth) doesn’t?

The trolling that is accepted here vs. the trolling that lights a fire underneath some people here is perplexing.

Might as well ban BB for the anti-BowTie avatar. And retro ban him for all those years he had Anti Albert avatar (that one still cracks me up)

t8ball12 – Yes, all of the trolling by these new posters bothers us, because we have seen what it has done to other forums. Our sincere desire is that it is caught in the bud and stopped by the moderators.

not to hurt your feelings, Cranny, genuinely I mean that, but Mo just re-signed Marmol to an extension. He deserves all the disrespect he gets.

Just how I feel about the matter.

I feel the Cardinals would do better with a more experienced manager. One who wasn’t handed the job with only a high A managing job on his resume. But I don’t make fun of the POBO by purposely calling him by the name of one of the three stooges.
    That’s kids’ stuff.

No one who knows me has EVER accused me of being “too nice”. No one. My now-adult kids would tell you that if Momma starts speaking very distinctly and softly, it’s time to either clean up your act or RUN!

I do believe in giving one opportunity for everyone to read what I post, have the intelligence to grasp my meaning and modify their behavior.

THE FOLLOWING IS ADDRESSED TO EVERY POSTER ON THIS BOARD (read it as if I’m speaking very distinctly and softly) –

I Don’t Give Two Figs Re What Has Occurred On Other Boards. Leave it there. Period. Don’t bring your dirty laundry here to air out.

I have neither the time nor inclination to babysit you and clean your diapers. I’m not doing it. One thing I have gained since my husband died and exploded my world is clarity. Priorities. Having to deal with matters generated on other sites ISN’T IT.

    To the new posters –
Welcome to the board. Read the board rules regarding posting. (That isn’t just a suggestion.)
    I take a

of trolling. Very. It’s not allowed.

You follow the posting rules, we’ll get along just peachy. You don’t follow the rules and you won’t last long.

Let the Moderators do the moderating.

Well, you remember. I’m reminding you I have a short fuse about trolling.

And I have an even shorter Fuse about being lectured on Moderating.

    Cranny,
You need to re-read my earlier response to you and then drop this subject.

Trolls are only effective when they get a rise out of their target(s). Don’t take the bait.

Now, that’s moderating. I don’t mind being the bad guy to get that response 🙂
    Well done.

The idea of free speech requires tolerance, but I would argue it requires toughness and acceptance of that we cannot change. Psychology teaches us that new, factual information doesn’t alter a personal schema when they are in conflict. The individual simply rejects the contrary info and reinforces the prior assumption.
The toughness is not not whining each time we feel wronged. Express your contrary opinions, and let us all celebrate this oasis of Cardinal joy that Brian has created.
Debate is great; it provides an opportunity to grow enough to fill in the spaces that separate us.

I think that everybody would rather that these new posters clean up their act and stay. But, if they refuse, then they need to pick up their marbles and go home. Nobody here wants to put up with the trolling, or listen to the mindless vitriol.

What was the response @JJ? You guys are still allowing a Racist Handle…make him change his damn name. It has ZERO to do with “What happened somewhere else”

    Google the name Wally Butterworth.

It’s highly offensive. I question as to if you guys really condone this?

I haven’t posted in a while… a long while. I was more prevalent during the Blog days, so I’m not new, but I’m not considered “family” as Cranny and others are. It shouldn’t matter.

I respect Brian alot. Last time I’ll ever bring it up again. I know ego sometimes prevents us from doing the right thing. Sorry if I’m challenging or challenged your ego.

Best of evenings to all of you.

Rom today – 6 hits and 3 runs in 2 innings pitched. Maybe what he showed the other day wasn’t real.

I don’t care about someone’s handle. An offensive one reflects on their character, and that’s all it does. I am getting more annoyed by the lectures about how outraged we should be.

Getting back on topic…no is the answer on Rom…my guess he will be in Memphis pretty soon

If the information I sourced is correct, Rom decided to forgo a committment to play college baseball at the University of Michigan and instead signed a professional contract with the Orioles that guaranteed him $650,000. It’s anyone’s guess what he was able to net after taxes. In any event, I’m thinking he’d have been better off furthering his formal education.

Wow, been busy down at the salt mines and missed the fireworks here. I’m calling on cooler heads to prevail and urge all concerned to be respectful of UCONN. Looking over this thread, I have one question……am I the only poster whom has no idea whatsoever what “POBO” is?

    #244173

Pugs – it stands for President of Baseball Operations. Mo’s title.

The final on Rom today – 9 hits and 4 runs in 2 1/3 innings. Not exactly a sterling performance.

POBO is a fancy term for GM.

Thank you, gentlemen. With the way this thread was trending, I wrongly thought it was derogatory in nature. I was thinking the “PO” stood for “piece of”, but for the life of me was stumped by the “BO”.

You’re welcome, Pugs. I’ve owned a couple of light duty PU trucks which were manufactured in Ft. Wayne Indiana, so I always thought “GM” stood for General Motors…Nothing at all wrong with a Ford, but I’ve just always been a Chevy kid…Haha!
