Well, the shredder is simply expressing it’s personal thoughts. My thoughts are that Nado is currently without any question the premier left side corner IF’er of not only the entire Big Leagues, but on this planet. My own personal view also includes a sense of feeling less comfortable when the baseball is hit towards Nado than the sense of comfort I once felt when it was hit in the direction of Scott Rolen. However, my feelings are simply my own. Those personal feelings certainly don’t confirm which player is the best at that particular position. At any rate, “the shredder” is certainly entitled to it’s own thoughts…When you think it over for a second or two, personal thoughts are the one solitary thing that genuinely belong to a person or a shredder…Haha!
I watched Arenado play nearly every game and he made plays that no other third baseman could have made. These national rankings are worthless.

Been a while since the FO spent significant dollars on a reliever. You think they are up for it?
Last one was probably Kim before the 2020 season. Before that was Andrew Miller for the 2019 season.
Looks like they have eliminated that risk and just gave up.
Bullpen acquisitions can be risky but I would be in favor of going after Chafin. We have the payroll space and I am not sold on our LH relief options.
Chafin would give the team an easier option to try to develop Thompson into a starter at AAA. Plus, he’s likely better as a reliever than Thompson so I think that’s a good idea as well. We’d lose someone off the 40-man, but there are several fringe reliever choices anyway sitting there now. We’d just have one less of them to try out in ST.
Predictions, prognostications, projections and odds are all good hot stove fodder but in the end, playoff “contending teams” with a bunch of players that exceed the above forecasts will turn out to be WS candidates in October. That’s what has our FO crossing their fingers. Every season there are guys that have their “career” season, rookies come from nowhere to excel etc. Its almost impossible to predict which players will surprise the experts. PHI in the WS? Who saw that coming? Surely not the odds-makers. The opposite side is that teams with major injuries and “all-stars” having bad seasons cannot be foreseen. The game has always been that way.
I’m done with the projections, predictions and the shredder for this off-season. They are mainly used by fantasy players anyway, ugh.

Chafin could step into the late innings with the lead role that Cabrera vacated last year. They were using Hicks there at the end of the year, which is not the best idea imo.
I think Cabrera is a better pitcher than he showed in 2022. I still think the lack of coaching and supervision from the big league team during labor negotiations set some players back, and Cabrera could be one of them. I would like to see Matz go to the pen as an additional lefty. We have other pitchers that I would like to see get some of Matz’ back of rotation innings, like Pallante, Woodford, Lberatore, Thompson, and maybe even Connor Thomas. McGreevy and Graceffo might earn some big league innings at some point in 2023, also.
Cabrera’s inability to miss bats in 2022 was puzzling, for sure. Hopefully he can get back on track this year, as he could really add another dimension to the pen.
Cabrera had a 21.5% K% in the first half and a 0.02 K% in the second half. I don’t believe preseason labor negotiations were the cause.
Maybe he is following the Reyes path. We rode both hard for a couple seasons.
Surprisingly GG is holding up so far.
When a manager only has 3 relievers he trusts, overusage is bound to happen.
Last year it was Pallante who was the AA guy coming from back in the pack to make the opening day roster. There are some possibilities for the same to happen this year, on both the pitching and position player sides. A dark horse or two from AAA will also be in camp with the big kids. You never know what a strong spring plus organizational need will conspire to make happen. ST game action is just around the corner.

Great Article on some cbs site about how the Rockies owner isn’t happy about the padres spending so much money. Said it puts pressure on other teams. Love it. To me it tells you small market teams can spend it, not just the Yankees or the dodgers of the sport.
crany, your question made me think of a guy and a conversation from some years ago. There was a watering hole I often stopped at on the way home from work, and this guy sometimes ended up on the next barstool and we talked baseball. He was resolute in his belief that HoF worthiness should be determined by a player’s career earnings compared to the population of players who retired around the same time. His rationale being that owners know what they are doing, especially when they are spending their own money.
