I think the players are too.
May 3, 2023 at 6:20 am #218713Cubs led the league in April with most runs scored per game, 5.41.
May 3, 2023 at 10:53 am #218732The Cubs are a .500 club at best.
Like the Cards, I doubt they will be in the playoffs.
May 3, 2023 at 11:11 am #218735But unlike the Cardinals they have excelled at one aspect of the game.

ParticipantI havent’s seen the contract yet, but its looking rather reasonable
January 10, 2024 at 10:22 am #241176Shota Imanaga Cubs deal is complicated and includes player/team options and escalators that could boost it to way up to $80M. Guarantee suggested to be somewhere around $30M for two years by @JimBowdenGM @jonmorosi 1st said $15M/year

January 27, 2024 at 9:23 am #242135The Cubs have been waiting most of the winter to strike, and in doing so with Hector Neris — who's coming off a season in which he had a 1.71 ERA in 68.1 innings — they get the best reliever left on the market, one who will pitch high-leverage innings on a team trying to win.

February 2, 2024 at 8:11 am #242331Theo resurfaces, though not with the Cubs this time…

February 25, 2024 at 1:06 pm #243035Cubs To Re-Sign Cody Bellinger https://t.co/aJEuMFgKKF pic.twitter.com/wcZhettkHq

February 25, 2024 at 1:12 pm #243038In my mind this keeps the Cubs in the mix for the NL Central crown. If Bellinger would have signed elsewhere I felt the Cubs and Brewers would battle it out for last place.
I don’t like this signing. Was hoping Bellinger would go somewhere else.
February 25, 2024 at 1:17 pm #243041I think this makes the Cubs the favorite to win the NLC.
February 25, 2024 at 9:47 pm #243064Another bat for Chicago…
Garrett Cooper to Cubs

February 29, 2024 at 2:34 pm #243255It pains me to say this, but I see the Chicago National League club as the best of a mediocre lot of teams in the NLC.
Cubs with around 88-90 wins, and everyone else anywhere from 75-85 wins. No super bad team in the division, just a bunch of teams with a few weaknesses keeping them from contending.
February 29, 2024 at 4:38 pm #243259I have confidence in the Cubs ability to find a way to tank the season.
February 29, 2024 at 4:41 pm #243260I think they will be sort of “1984-ish”. They will win the division, and tank in the post season. Come to think of it, that sounds like a few recent Cardinal clubs.
February 29, 2024 at 5:00 pm #243261Misery loves company. The last time any NL Central team played in the World Series was in 2016. That is the year the Cubs won.
March 30, 2024 at 8:45 pm #245668Cubs start the season 0-2.

March 30, 2024 at 9:03 pm #245681Not only that but their ace pitcher is going to miss over a month with injury.

June 30, 2024 at 12:06 pm #258356Watching the Cubs crash and burn has been one of the highlights of the season so far. Here is to hoping that they continue on their descent.
June 30, 2024 at 1:18 pm #258366It sure has been wonderful, Scotty. I’m sure not quite sure which of the two that I derive greater enjoyment from…..the Cardinals winning or the cubbies going down in defeat, especially when it’s a heartbreaking setback.
June 30, 2024 at 1:34 pm #258367The Cubs paid up to get supposedly the best manager in the game. It doesn’t seem to be enough to overcome their roster.
July 24, 2024 at 8:48 pm #261519Hoyer is basically saying the Cubs will be sellers.
