Cubs led the league in April with most runs scored per game, 5.41.

The Cubs are a .500 club at best.

Like the Cards, I doubt they will be in the playoffs.

But unlike the Cardinals they have excelled at one aspect of the game.

In my mind this keeps the Cubs in the mix for the NL Central crown. If Bellinger would have signed elsewhere I felt the Cubs and Brewers would battle it out for last place.

I don’t like this signing. Was hoping Bellinger would go somewhere else.

I think this makes the Cubs the favorite to win the NLC.

It pains me to say this, but I see the Chicago National League club as the best of a mediocre lot of teams in the NLC.

Cubs with around 88-90 wins, and everyone else anywhere from 75-85 wins. No super bad team in the division, just a bunch of teams with a few weaknesses keeping them from contending.

I have confidence in the Cubs ability to find a way to tank the season.

I think they will be sort of “1984-ish”. They will win the division, and tank in the post season. Come to think of it, that sounds like a few recent Cardinal clubs.

Misery loves company. The last time any NL Central team played in the World Series was in 2016. That is the year the Cubs won.

Not only that but their ace pitcher is going to miss over a month with injury.

Watching the Cubs crash and burn has been one of the highlights of the season so far. Here is to hoping that they continue on their descent.

It sure has been wonderful, Scotty. I’m sure not quite sure which of the two that I derive greater enjoyment from…..the Cardinals winning or the cubbies going down in defeat, especially when it’s a heartbreaking setback.

The Cubs paid up to get supposedly the best manager in the game. It doesn’t seem to be enough to overcome their roster.

Hoyer is basically saying the Cubs will be sellers.
