Burleson loses his 26-man spot if Edman is ready, otherwise the latter goes on the IL. 40-man drop could be any one of Kennedy, Rivas, Young, Siani, Fermin. A hitter is most likely but if it is a pitcher: return Fernandez or maybe it’s O’Brien?
Its really going to be an adventure watching Marmol manage with the bench he’s going to have. It would be an adventure whoever was managing.
If the rotation really does go deep regularly, I wonder about the idea of going with and extra position player on the 26 man roster.

Yes, Carpenter appears to be a complete waste of a spot. Until Edman is back at least Crawford can play SS – I guess….
Maybe Edman is further away from a return than they are letting on or maybe we are seeing a complete over reaction to the ‘leadership’ issue from last year.

This is the fourth year. It started in 2021, post-COVID. (It was 28 in 2020.)
Clearly, Edman not being ready was a factor in Crawford’s signing. But maybe they were planning it all along and were just waiting for SS prices to drop. We talked all winter here about that roster exposure even before we knew about Edman’s surgery.
I specifically asked Mo last month at WWU who his back up SS was and he said Edman. I gave him a questioning look but he moved on to the next question…
