#20 Leonel SequeraAt age 19 in full-season ball, Sequera made 24 starts this year with an excellent FIP of 3.45. Yeah, his ERA wasn’t so hot (4.33), and he only averaged 4 1/2 innings per start. But hey, Sequera still logged 30 more innings in 2025 alone than Tanner Franklin posted in his entire 3-year collegiate career.
It’s a mid-90’s fastball for Sequera, with a solid slider and (I suspect) an underrated straight change. I say that because he’s had distinct reverse splits each of the past two campaigns — lefty bats managed an OPS barely over .600 against Leo in both ’24 and ’25. It’s a cliche, I realize, but shutting down opposite-handed batters usually requires a good changeup. Youth, health, minimum daily requirement of velocity. I like him.

stlcard25Participant19. Won-Bin Cho. The Peoria curse is real. I see him cracking 20+ homers at Springfield next year.
20. Tanner Franklin. See above. I sincerely hope he does NOT start at Peoria next year.
November 10, 2025 at 8:06 am #295646Leonel Alejandro Sequera. I like him too. He presently occupies the #28 slot on my my list. But with Bobby’s stamp of approval, young Leonel certainly warrants consideration for getting nudged up a bit. I’ll rehash matters.
* Welcome back LouisEU!

stlcard25ParticipantHi all,
This year I missed the start of the ranking voting.
My bad, but I’ve had a lot of trouble in “real life”.
Can I still join?Louis, let me officially welcome you to the voting rolls! Yes, you may start at any point. I have you in my list of regulars from last year, so adding you to the sheet is pretty simple. Enjoy the voting!
November 10, 2025 at 8:33 am #295654FORSCH….. you missed a few weeks. Are you back in?
November 10, 2025 at 8:35 am #295655#19. Hansen
#20 Jordan
November 10, 2025 at 8:42 am #295656I like Sequera too. The very first thing a starter has to be able to do is answer the bell all year. If he can do that, there is something to work with. I get very nervous about an International about to face baseball and life away from the curated environment at the complex.
November 10, 2025 at 9:17 am #295660Is Granillo still available for this list? Only 21 IP but not sure the cutoff on service time. I’d vote for him and Gastelum 20 spots before Franklin.

Participant19 – Blaze Jordan
20 – Luis GastelumNovember 10, 2025 at 11:03 am #295665Isn’t good when healthy the Dodgers while pitching philosophy the last 2 years which helped them win back to back World Series? The Dodgers 2nd most innings pitched was Kershaw with 112 and they had a total of 40 guys throw a pitch for them this year.
That works if you are willing to run a $300M+ payroll and can afford to roll 40 different pitchers out there. I don’t view that as a viable strategy for the Cardinals.

Well said bling.
November 10, 2025 at 11:21 am #295667Granillo is indeed still eligible as a prospect.
November 10, 2025 at 2:06 pm #29566914Ny, at this point, I am not as familiar with prospects so I will sit out the voting. I may occasionally point out a forgotten prospect but I leave it to you guys who spend more time with the prospects.
November 10, 2025 at 5:34 pm #295670Won-bin Cho
FranklinNovember 10, 2025 at 8:18 pm #295673Does anyone else see a lot of similarities in Won-Bin Cho and Chase Davis? Both are former highly rated physically gifted guys who have very similar profiles and have both not performed.
Shared traits
– Good plate discipline with high walk rates
– High strikeout rates
– Good defensive potential
– Below average contact rates
– Good raw power
– The fatal flaw for me. Both share the limit they can’t tap into their power since they ground out at almost a 50% rateHere are their stats for this year which are incredibly similar. They are so similar you would have to think I was pulling your leg with these stats.
Cho – .240/.346/.350 with 13.2 BB%, 24.4 K%, 49.1 GB%
Davis – .242/.350/.353 with 13.6 BB%, 29.6 K%, 48.1 GB%November 10, 2025 at 9:04 pm #295674While Cho may have a bit more power potential than Davis, the only real difference right now is that Davis is the better defender and a level higher and Cho is a year and a half younger. I agree with Albert that the stats say they are very similar players. I hope the Cardinals can make something of both of them but neither gives me a lot of hope.
November 10, 2025 at 9:05 pm #29567519. Luis Enrique Gastelum – Poised for a great 2026. We’ll see “Gasy” up with the Big Club by 2027.
20. Peter Francis Hansen – Almost identical numbers at Peoria and Springfield this past season. Can he handle the class jump to Memphis next year with similar ease?
* In Forschster we trust. Time to step up to the plate with some prospects, Forschster.
November 10, 2025 at 11:08 pm #29567719) Andre the giant Granillo (2027 closer)
20) Luis GastelumThe BP is looking solid and cheap in 2026-2030.

stlcard25ParticipantAbout three and a half hours to go before voting closes! I think most everyone who’s a regular is in, but we had a couple newbies this round. Your vote could make all the difference!! Noon CT/1 PM ET is closing!

stlcard25ParticipantDoes anyone else see a lot of similarities in Won-Bin Cho and Chase Davis? Both are former highly rated physically gifted guys who have very similar profiles and have both not performed.
Cho performed in his one full year at Palm Beach, and he performed for a good chunk of this year. Davis had a couple of good months last year that got us all excited, then he reverted to his norms.
I’ll also add that Davis had the fortune to basically skip over Peoria, undoubtedly the worst environment with (likely) the worst coaching in the system, while Cho has been stuck there for two years, with the hope that he finally can escape in 2026. He’s also much more raw and he just finished his age 21 season, where Davis finished his age 23 season.
I have a lot more hopes for Cho to turn into another Nootbaar than I do for Davis. For that reason, I have him a grade higher on my list.
November 11, 2025 at 11:26 am #295691Anybody who is a power hitter coming in gets destroyed somehow.
