I’m all over Chen-Wei Lin here at our coveted #7 slot. Tall drink of water out of Taiwan whom whiffs many and walks few……plus he’s not adverse to dishing out a little chin music to keep batters from getting too comfy in the box.

    My #7 is Hjerpe
I have him above McGreevy too

I have to go with Chase Davis here. I think he has the highest upside of the position players.

Bling made a compelling argument for Lin, but I think we’re a few spots too high for him.

I had Davis ahead of Lin until recently. I too think he has the highest upside on the position player side, and we need to upgrade the outfield. But, as I mentioned on another thread, since his future seems to be at a corner, I think the Cardinals will at some point try to ‘fix’ his swing to entice more over the wall power. That could go well or not well, so it adds an element of risk. That is the only reason I reversed them and put Lin above Davis. I admit that Lin has risk too, related to distance from the top and plenty of time for things to go sideways.

    #7 = Cooper Hjerpe
I liked what Bling said about Lin, but agree with LACardFan that this is a few spots too high for him. Also in agreement with LouisEU that I have Hjerpe higher than McGreevy. Davis will be my next pick, unless he wins this spot! Where will Roby slot with the voting? Great potential, but can he ever stay healthy?

I really like Lin, who reminds me of Wainwright with his tall, slender build. I don’t want to miss out on voting for “Weino” for sure.

That said, I’m voting for Cooper Hjerpe again. He’s a little closer and a little more assured of actually making the majors. I really do think with some of these guys that they have a prime opportunity to have a “rotation” with a number of 70ish pitch guys to start and relieve. Hence, Hjerpe, Graceffo, etc. Having 4 or 5 of them would save arms and let them pitch a little more effectively in shorter bursts, without requiring them to go to the 1 inning bullpen stint.

    At #7 Hjerpe for sure.

Its good to see Carioca Cardinal back on board.

    #7 Hjerpe.

I do like most of the other names in contention as well and strongly considered each of Bernal, Davis, and Lin for the #7 spot

This time around I’m going with Bernal. He’s been pretty sensational so far for his age. He could arguably be a better prospect than Crooks. If we didn’t have so many catching prospects running around, we’d all probably regard him higher.

I really like Bernal…switch hitting catcher, always hits fairly well and especially considering age. The Cards seem to have one or two of these guys in the system nonstop. They don’t seem to pan out. Doesn’t mean one won’t, but so far the results haven’t been great. I still will vote him soon.

That said, Chase Davis has the highest position player upside in the system. He really came on the second half of the year, and moved all the way to Springfield. He probably doesn’t have the power potential of a Nolan Gorman, but he could be a similar type of player (40-45 hit, 55 power), only a little more athletic and in the outfield. So Davis is my vote at #8.

I actually really like Chen-Wei Lin here for #8
