Slow time of year Bling. I found it interesting. Especially the part where he said he didn’t really use metrics. I would think you liked that.

I remember DeJong got so tangled up with the biomechanics, his upper half doing this and his lower half doing that. He never hit again. But good luck to him.

DeBong was a highly intelligent head case. I loved the guy. He was real.

I wonder if Saggese is beginning to secure a place on the active roster.

If Saggese makes the team next spring, it will be because of how he performs in spring training (and what his competition looks like).

Arizona carries little weight. Heck, just two years ago, Connor Thomas dominated the AFL and was their Pitcher of the Year. He never made the team and is still stuck in neutral in Memphis.

Saggese should 100% be on the roster next year.

That’s why I used the word beginning, Brian.

I saw that article too. The advice Saggese was given, and is working on there at AFL, is be patient and wait for a mistake. He mentions he got that from Turner Ward. I guess we’ll see if it works next season.

Saggese has the 3rd best OPS (behind 2 first basemen) in the AFL at 1.201. Ixan Henderson has the 3rd best ERA among qualified pitchers at 1.08.

Henderson is an exciting surprise having only 30 IPs above low A. Saggese has over 1,000 AA and AAA PAs and some MLB experience, so is less surprising he can dominate there, but it is still an impressive performance. Hopefully he is not getting overconfident whooping on less experienced pitching. I haven’t tracked his walks, but he is supposed to be working on patience.

Two days ago, Saggese was 8th in OPS. Kemp Alderman was above Saggese, but is no longer listed…

Saggese is currently tied for fifth in walks, with 12 walks (versus 13 strikeouts).

If Saggese carries this kind of performance throughout ST, he could be making a case for being the starting second baseman.
Donovan would be the super floater.
