When Noot returns….. It gets complicated. Carlson better make the most of these opportunities because Edman has looked good in CF.

You’re right JJ because I’m not sure Walker will head back down.

Pick up a full game in the standings and have a chance to climb out of last place with a Cub’s loss in SF.

I saw Woodford was optioned to AAA with Yepez.
Woodford should be in the pen for Stratton or VH! or in rotation for Libby or Wainwright.

100% Correct Lee. or use Matz as your main lefty and option Cabrera.
Woodford thrived when he came out of the pen last season; had some struggles as a starter, but also had a couple nice outings… would be good to see him more.

Woodford is clearly worse than Liberatore at this point so I don’t think there’s any good argument to insert him as a starter.

Stratton has actually been really good. Up until last night’s blunder, he’s arguably been the best pitcher in the Cards bullpen this year. And, he has a much longer track record of being good there going back to his days with the Pirates than Woodford.

So to me, there were only 3 options. They could have optioned Cabrerra to Memphis. But Cabrerra can be really good when he isn’t walking everyone which is about every other time out. Or, they could have DFA’d and lost VerHagan out of the organization. VH had some really good moments early on but he’s been mostly bad of late. But the other factor weighing into this is that the Cardinals just put Connor Thomas on the IL and Graceffo is already there. That leaves them thin on AAA starters. And, if someone in our rotation gets hurt, we may need a starter ready to step in. That’s why they made the move they did. Otherwise, I think we very well might have seen VerHagan be let go. Because Woodford probably is at least as good as VerHagan has been and Woodford could use more MLB experience.
