    Re: Edman 6th
My only concern is if there is a better hitter behind him who should bat 6th instead.

In fact, with who is available tonight, I could see him as 5th.

The Cardinals have the distinction of being the only team in the NLC with a + run differential.

Practically all good managers have used their number one SB threat as middle of the order guys. It’s an old tried and true indian trick used to deceive and confuse the unsuspecting enemy…Custer fell for it.

So Edman 1st and Goldy second, gotcha.
Stolen bases is now the end all for making out the lineup!

The line-up of this ’23 edition is obviously constructed in a manner as to produce as many W’s as is possible. When something works, stay with it…

Arenado with the 2 run dinger. Nice call by John Rooney on KMOX.

Welcome back Dylan. He saves us a run with his right field defense.

And another rarity, we scored 2 already and Willson Contreras got a hit. Times they are a changing’ (Dylan quote since Dylan is back, right?)

Indeed! Good to see Carlson back. Would love to see him show some of that promise he displayed when he was in the minor league system. Like him out there for his defense regardless.

Monty struggling early with control of both his off speed pitches.

I can’t recall the last time I saw anyone tater-up on a 3-0 pitch. At any rate, I oughta’ be able to memorize that one. Nado put some cruel and unusual on that 3-0.

Monty got through it but those changes and curves were almost all mislocated.

Monty shaky in the second, but gets out of it unscathed. Oh, our neighbor cancelled the NBA watch party tonight, and we don’t have cable so am watching the last place Cardinals.

The NBA finals aren’t being televised on a national network?

It’s crazy that we have a positive run differential but a terrible record. That leads you to believe we have some bad luck, plus some poor management in high leverage situations. With a good manager we would only be about 5 games under. 😀

Walker could always hit fastballs thrown right down the middle. That’s not his issue.

Goldschmidt however, can no longer hit those.

Brewers down by 4 vs. A’s in 2nd inning. Pirates up big over Mets, Cubs haven’t started yet. Go A’s!

I was thinking the NBA Finals are on ESPN, but just checked and our local ABC station is showing them as well. They did that last year as well when the Avalanche were in the Stanley Cup finals. So now I will be switching back and forth between our game and basketball.

    Thanks Jnevel!!

Every pitcher seems to be just throwing pitches to Gorman right at the top of the zone or below the zone. And he keeps swinging and missing. He’s going to have to start recognizing them and laying off. He did that well early on but for the last month he hasn’t.

71 pitches through 4 innings for Monty. Not even close to ideal. But at least no runs. I’d like to get 6 from him, but that’s starting to look unlikely.
