How can you possibly consider platooning a player that leads his team in almost every important offensive category?

Need more runs. No lead is ever safe.

Helsley needs to be taken out now before it’s too late!!

I’m just going to assume that the Redbird field manager is watching closely.

I have been very quiet about the manager but this one is gonna away me in the get rid of him corner! Helsley is NOT a 2 inning guy! I’m fine with him coming in to pitch the 8th against the top of there line up! But as soon a they get a base runner in the 9th he has to be pulled! 2 batters too late and it is gonna cost us big time!

You’re right, Steve. Two too late. And if we somehow escape with a W, it’s still two too late.

Just got home from some errands. Hmm. I’ll have to study the PBP and box. 7 IP start I see. Sometimes you just have to shame these chumps to restore their sense of manhood.

I’m not comfortable with Gio either. He should have worked the 8th.

I hope everybody realizes that strike three on Betts was clearly a ball.

I guess that makes up for the pitiful calls against Donovan in a key spot against Milwaukee earlier in the week.

Well, 5 in back, Redbird fans. The current Redbird PBP guy’s paw-paw used to sing a little song on the radio…”The Cardinals are coming, tra-la, la-la”…

Sometimes your team wins because of the managers decision and sometimes they win in spite of them! This win was definitely the latter!

Boy, I sure hated to see Betts standing in there, but I’m not sure if I’d have been able to endure watching if it would have extended to Freddie Freeman. And I don’t think taking the baseball from Gio and handing it to a lefty would have helped.

Wasn’t able to watch tonight, which sounds like it was good for my health. I am glad to see our manager got the two big guys some late inning work tonight, since he seemed to forget about them last night. But it also looks like he almost did the 2022 playoff gaffe again with Helsley.

I will watch the highlights comfortably. 😀

Helsley has pitched two innings before with no issues. He didn’t have command of his fastball in that second inning. Not the manager’s fault.

BikeMike……watch the final strike three call against Betts. Let us know what you think. CLEARLY it was Ball Four. Thank you Paul Emmel.

It’s the mangers job to see he doesn’t have control of his fastball and get him out of there! Which he did, 2 batters too late IMO!

Everyone in the stadium knows that Helsley can only pitch one inning. Everyone with an I.Q. above 40, that is.

Oh, and I remember that jingle Harry would do in ‘69. It takes me back to being a kid and we were in Omaha at my aunt and uncle’s place and had the game on. I believe it was in August, and the Cards won and Harry did his little “”..the Cardinals are coming tra la tra la..” bit. Unfortunately that club could not get there as the Amazin’s were in fate’s corner.
