Yeah, I think that’s entirely fair, Rats. I also predict that by the AS break, he’ll be your favorite player…Haha!

I agree with your lineups Mike although I would consider putting Noot in RF and Mercado in CF since that is where each has played most of their careers.

Noot has 138 PA’s this season. By the All-Star break he might have 300 PA’s.

I’ll do you one better, Rats. Over the last 365 days, he’s a .814 ops in 466 PA’s. This season he’s an .820 ops.

Thought you might like a bigger sample.
    Last 365 days:
    .248 / .365 / .450 / .814 \ 466 PA’s

    That’s a nice obp w/power.

GS, good one. I see you avoided saying “natural position”!

BikeMike – I’m good with your lineup against righties, but I’d make 2 changes against lefties. Edman should be the SS because he crushes lefties and DeJong should be out because he has generally been bad against them. And, then Edman should hit 1 or 2 with Nootbaar in the other slot of 1 or 2. Mercado should probably hit 9. Despite 3 hits last night, he’s probably going to be our worst hitter in the lineup over time.

Long term, I’d prefer to trade Yepez if we can find some value for him. But I’d keep Burly. He’s left handed, hits the ball really hard, and hasn’t had much time to prove himself yet as a hitter at the MLB level (literally like 3 months). I think all of that makes him useful as a DH and as a backup to Goldschmidt at 1B. Plus, he can fill in on occasion in LF if his hitting improves or in an emergency. I think he’s an ideal guy to have on our bench. Yepez just makes less sense with Contreras, Arenado, and Goldschmidt on the team and Walker waiting in the wings. All of his skills are already redundant unless he just hits a ton.

In Tee ball or as a pro?
    Good one.
