Woo Hoo! DeJong, Carl, Kiz – just like we drew it up at the start of the season! Who would have thought?

That 14 inning game Sunday against the Marlins is paying dividends. The Cub bullpen is spent. This Assad guy has almost thrown a complete game.

Chance for an inverted cycle this inning…

Noot misses the chance to get that reverse cycle to start the inning…

Now the plate ump expands the zone on Noot. He hasn’t done that all game.

They were paying Stan Musial 12K. Which was considered big money. Sure, you could buy a new Cadillac Fleetwood for $7500. But still…

stlcard: reverse cycle — aka the “unnatural cycle,” haha. I just read that expression recently.

edit for 1td, I just saw inverted cycle. Not sure if I’ve heard that one either.

edit again, bassackward cycle makes sense to everybody.

Gio’s gotta feel good getting Swanson.

Simmons made $3600 in ’68 with the Cardinals. Nice amount of cash for an 18 year old…

Yeah, I messed that up, Euro. The correct way to score that is a BA. Bassackwards…

Solid win! Hey anytime we beat the Cubs it is a glorious day. Let’s keep the win streak going and sweep these guys tomorrow.

There is the beginning of the crack than might, and I say might, let a ray of hope shine upon the 2023 season.

I’m 55% on DeJong now. He still has work to do but I’m no longer ready to throw him off the back of the train….

I would guess bettors lost a lot of money on this game. I watch the Cubs broadcast because they play the Nat’l anthem and “Take me Out” at the stretch. They mentioned that Cards were 13-6 against the Cubs last season..

Simmons made $3600 in ’68 with the Cardinals.

Reminds me of the Uecker tale where he told his dad the Braves wanted to sign him for $3,000. His dad said, “Sorry son, but we don’t have that kind of money.”

Haha! He’s still working on home radio broadcasts at 89 yrs. of age. I’m not sure Ripken Jr. could match that feat.

The pen did enough. Everybody did enough. That’s all it takes.

I think Jack has serious problems. He’s had enough arm trouble that there is no way to say whether he will get much better. But we can take a page out of Mo’s book and hope.

    Tomorrow we face a lefty.

Scoreboard’s looking pretty good with the exception of those pesky Reds…

Did anyone happen to notice that raven that flew in front of the camera at the instant Goldy’s cheap broken bat single hit the shallow OF grass just barely out of reach of Swanson’s glove in the Redbird 3 run 3rd inning? And how about Knizner’s floating RBI double into the Bermuda Triangle of RF in the 2 run 9th? Those are sure signs that the evil baseball gypsies have been excorcised and have now taken up their normal haunt at Wrigley Field…We have a chance.
