I think he wanted Cabrera to face the lefties.
April 27, 2023 at 4:47 pm #218094I thought Walker was sent down. 😉

April 27, 2023 at 4:50 pm #218095Pitch count aside, why send him out there in 7th to begin with? He takes the mound and does exactly what you want from him and then you go get him? I understand the LH’ed hitter matchup, but I had a bad feeling about it. Turned out okay, though.
April 27, 2023 at 4:52 pm #218096Noot’s crawl please
Now everyone will be doing it.
April 27, 2023 at 4:54 pm #218097DeJong may save the season.
April 27, 2023 at 4:55 pm #218098A long DeJong dong.
April 27, 2023 at 4:57 pm #218099De Jong is their 2nd best hitter right now
April 27, 2023 at 5:00 pm #218100Cabrera back out…Giants with a pinch hitter for pederson
April 27, 2023 at 5:13 pm #218101The Mikolas/Cabrera decision was numbers based off of past performance, and it played out very similar. You have to know the past individual matchup numbers and handedness splits to understand most bullpen decisions.
April 27, 2023 at 5:14 pm #218102Every time Cabby records a 3rd out, he closes out a WS…
April 27, 2023 at 5:15 pm #218103Yeah, I don’t know those, jj.
April 27, 2023 at 5:19 pm #218104The decision process was correct, because we got “good Cabrera”. If Cabrera stinks, Marmol is an idiot, even tho the decision was correct.
April 27, 2023 at 5:20 pm #218105I gotta start checking the start times of these games.
April 27, 2023 at 5:30 pm #218106That was my line of thinking, jj. It was then a 2-0 game and Mikolas records the first out with no trouble. In all fairness, I’ll afford Marmol credit for the simple fact that he left himself wide open to the gallows if it doesn’t play out the way it did. And Cabrerra, even though he’s been effective lately, can be awfully risky in a 2-0 game. In any event, I’ll go out on a limb and say that we’ll win this one…Haha!
April 27, 2023 at 5:33 pm #218107So I missed Mikolas’ best game by far. Did he look as sharp as his results indicate?
April 27, 2023 at 5:36 pm #218108He looked good Euro.
April 27, 2023 at 5:37 pm #218109Thanks, bling. I’ll probably do a fast scan through the game tonight.
April 27, 2023 at 5:39 pm #218110Pitching, starter and relief, looked good. The O got the job done, but I don’t think its there yet. The Dodgers are a much better team than the Giants, but not off to great start, playing .500.
April 27, 2023 at 5:40 pm #218111He looked good, Euro. Never allowed a baserunner to reach past 2B.
April 27, 2023 at 5:46 pm #218112I thought the previous time thru the order influenced the Mikolas pull. I believe Crawford and Wade both got on? and Mikolas got out of it vs Pederson.
I liked that Cabrera is not someone you dig in on, whereas Mikolas you can more so, a little fear factor to think about.
April 27, 2023 at 5:47 pm #218113Yeah, Harper knows not to dig a hole in the box…
April 27, 2023 at 6:01 pm #218114Not that it means anything, but I attended a game last season against the Yankees on a Friday night at the beginning of August in which DeJong collected the winning RBI a few days after he’d been called up after being down at Memphis since late May. He may be good luck because the Cardinals proceeded to go on a tear after that 3 game Yankee series. I’m not real superstitious, but when I was about 14 or 15, I had a successful outing with a girl named Nancy who was a few years older than I was…I still sometimes wear the socks that I had on that night…
April 27, 2023 at 6:15 pm #218115Yay a win!
April 27, 2023 at 6:17 pm #218116Imagine what Stubby could do with this murderer’s row.
April 27, 2023 at 6:32 pm #218117It looks like DeJong won’t be coming out of the lineup anytime soon. Edman and Donovan will be alternating at 2B I suppose. Might as well as ride the hot hand while you can. We know Paul will cool off soon enough.
