I think he wanted Cabrera to face the lefties.

I thought Walker was sent down. 😉

Pitch count aside, why send him out there in 7th to begin with? He takes the mound and does exactly what you want from him and then you go get him? I understand the LH’ed hitter matchup, but I had a bad feeling about it. Turned out okay, though.

The Mikolas/Cabrera decision was numbers based off of past performance, and it played out very similar. You have to know the past individual matchup numbers and handedness splits to understand most bullpen decisions.

Every time Cabby records a 3rd out, he closes out a WS…

Yeah, I don’t know those, jj.

The decision process was correct, because we got “good Cabrera”. If Cabrera stinks, Marmol is an idiot, even tho the decision was correct.

I gotta start checking the start times of these games.

That was my line of thinking, jj. It was then a 2-0 game and Mikolas records the first out with no trouble. In all fairness, I’ll afford Marmol credit for the simple fact that he left himself wide open to the gallows if it doesn’t play out the way it did. And Cabrerra, even though he’s been effective lately, can be awfully risky in a 2-0 game. In any event, I’ll go out on a limb and say that we’ll win this one…Haha!

So I missed Mikolas’ best game by far. Did he look as sharp as his results indicate?

Thanks, bling. I’ll probably do a fast scan through the game tonight.

Pitching, starter and relief, looked good. The O got the job done, but I don’t think its there yet. The Dodgers are a much better team than the Giants, but not off to great start, playing .500.

He looked good, Euro. Never allowed a baserunner to reach past 2B.

I thought the previous time thru the order influenced the Mikolas pull. I believe Crawford and Wade both got on? and Mikolas got out of it vs Pederson.

I liked that Cabrera is not someone you dig in on, whereas Mikolas you can more so, a little fear factor to think about.

Not that it means anything, but I attended a game last season against the Yankees on a Friday night at the beginning of August in which DeJong collected the winning RBI a few days after he’d been called up after being down at Memphis since late May. He may be good luck because the Cardinals proceeded to go on a tear after that 3 game Yankee series. I’m not real superstitious, but when I was about 14 or 15, I had a successful outing with a girl named Nancy who was a few years older than I was…I still sometimes wear the socks that I had on that night…

It looks like DeJong won’t be coming out of the lineup anytime soon. Edman and Donovan will be alternating at 2B I suppose. Might as well as ride the hot hand while you can. We know Paul will cool off soon enough.
