Yeah, it was Busch Memorial Stadium from the day the ribbon was cut. And you’re right, I never heard either my Dad, Uncle or Grandad call the venue on Grand Ave. anything other than Sportsman’s Park or, the ballpark. Probably because all three of them drank Falstaff…Haha!

One of my uncles worked at the Stag brewery which was across the river in Belleville back then. He’d come home with as many cases as he could fit in his car. So the men in the family were all Stag drinkers.

Yeah, I remember the Stag brand real well. It’s probably brewed somewhere else now and I’m not at all aware of who distributes it, but I seem to recall seeing it in the cooler at the grocery store or gas mart not too very long ago.

I just finished watching a pretty extensive interview of Johnny conducted by Jim Hayes from the dugout in SF on the pregame show. Johnny seemed to swallow pretty hard a couple of times and assured Jim that his entire staff was diligently working to formulate a solution to the early Redbird woes. I don’t recall seeing him smile.

Did they ask why Walker hasn’t been playing much in the last 4….if you aren’t going to play him he needs to be at Memphis getting AB’s

But how many days worth of stubble? That’s the tell.

1td, could you tell if Blake and Ward were working on their resumes in the dugout?

No, he didn’t mention any names. In fact, he didn’t mention any solutions. He only mentioned ambiguities…

The Reds plate six (6) runs in the last of the 8th and beat the Rangers by the same 7-6 score at Riverfront Stadium.

The Dodgers come from behind to down the Pirates at Forbes Field 8-7.

Houston snaps the Tampa Bay home winning streak with a 5-0 win.

    Time for baseball from Candlestick!

The stubble was the first thing I noticed, Bling. Lots of it!

The camera frame was panned in real tight, Euro, but Hayes’ eyes seemed to be wandering…

The Giants look like they’re a team from Syracuse.

I just took a look at Brebbia and he did pretty good in SF in ’22.

Brebbia led the league in appearances last year.

After that impotent initial half inning of offense by the Cards, my Extra Innings channel went to a Vi agra commercial.

Mo offed him a couple years ago because he was due to make more than minimum. Not a star, just a reliable innings eater out of the pen, spot starts.

I don’t know if that would do any good, Euro. That 1st inning looked as though they couldn’t get it up with a forklift…

Took Woody 30 pitches to get out of the 1st.

I liked Brebbia as a Card and appreciated his nuances.

Woodford flashes his swing and miss stuff to end the 1st unscathed.

They displayed a graphic that identified the sequence of pitches Jake used facing Pederson. One was identified as a “sweeper.” I wonder if his arsenal also contains a duster?

Oh, this is one of those fashionable musical SP’er games, eh? Trendy and sure to create a buzz.

A little league run! Cards throwing it everywhere.
