Andujar was undoubtedly Jack Buck’s favorite player to interview. At the end of almost every one of those classic sessions on KMOX, Andujar would always slip in the following…”And as you know, Jack, I’m a power heeter”…Buck would always break into some hearty laughter and then proclaim, “There you have it folks, he’s one tough dominican!”…Haha!
April 24, 2023 at 9:39 pm #217596LOL. Andujar and Buck. What a great moment!
April 24, 2023 at 9:41 pm #217597Only 3 of our at bats have left the infield so far tonight. At least Goldy broke up the no-no.
April 24, 2023 at 9:42 pm #217598Contreras is starting to look like Lonnie Smith behind the plate. Skates 2.0.
Not sure why you said this because I just started watching tonight. I also have been less than impressed and commented on some of his work behind the plate, especially blocking pitches in the dirt and framing pitches. Heck, even catching pitches seems like a struggle sometimes. But to be fair, I came here to say the play he made to get Conforto was athletically impressive. A lot of catchers couldn’t have pounced out like that to make the play.
April 24, 2023 at 9:46 pm #217599Forsch was undoubtedly not only a talented SP’er, but also a tough competitor, Jnevel. He single handedly rallied the Redbirds when he came on in relief in the 5th inning of Game 3 of the ’87 NLCS with the Cardinals trailing 4-0 at Candlestick. He immediately plunked Jeffery (One flap down) Leonard and the Redbirds came back to win that pivotal game by a 6-5 score. And I don’t think Tewks ever issued a BB in his entire career…

Now THAT’s funny!
April 24, 2023 at 10:07 pm #21760112 scoreless innings in a row for our pitchers now. Monty has battled well tonight.
Carter, at least her breasts are properly labeled.
April 24, 2023 at 10:21 pm #217602Montgomery’s displayed some genuine tenacity to work through 6 scoreless IP’ed with 104 pitches.
April 24, 2023 at 10:23 pm #217603Donovan is something else in the field. Hasn’t he been mentioned as possible emergency catcher? Not wishing bad luck to Will or Kiz, but I’d like to see Donovan back there just to see how he looks. I bet he’d be really good.
April 24, 2023 at 10:23 pm #217604Agreed. Come on offense. Let’s give this guy a win.
April 24, 2023 at 10:24 pm #217605Carter, at least her breasts are properly labeled.
lol
April 24, 2023 at 10:25 pm #217606DeJong is the emergency catcher. But yeah, Donovan does seem like he’d be good everywhere.
April 24, 2023 at 10:28 pm #217607Yeah, he’s been mentioned, Euro, but I’m not sure it’d be a good idea. I’d have to guess they’d have to give Manny Motter another call if either Contreras or Knizner couldn’t play.
April 24, 2023 at 10:28 pm #217608My three pitchers:
Easy. Gibby, Carpenter & Bottenfield. All three were important in a couple World Series titles for the Redbirds.
April 24, 2023 at 10:30 pm #217609Eddie with the “Das Boot”…
April 24, 2023 at 10:31 pm #217610“DeJong is the emergency catcher
“.More like the emergency out
April 24, 2023 at 10:32 pm #217611Thanks Euro. Now Kent Bottenfield I do remember. Interesting pick.
I think I’m checking out on this game. Going to have to dream of a winner. Neither team seems to want to break their streak of losing the first game in every series.
April 24, 2023 at 10:32 pm #217612Right, 1td. It’d be managerial malpractice if Donovan got hurt doing that and they’d have to fire Oli. But in an emergency, what do you do? Motter’s gone. Throw PDJ in there? Or Hicks, haha?
April 24, 2023 at 10:33 pm #217613Yeah, I’d rather try Marmol at C…
April 24, 2023 at 10:35 pm #217614I’m guessing the reference to Bottenfield is for the nice CF’er the Redbirds got in exchange for Kent?
April 24, 2023 at 10:37 pm #217615My son and I went to a lot of games the season Bottenfield won 18. It was by far his most productive season. No other season in his career resembled that one. And without that year, chances are good Edmonds and Freese never wear the birds on bat.
April 24, 2023 at 10:41 pm #217616I forgot about the Bottenfield/Edmonds road leading to Freese, Euro.
April 24, 2023 at 10:42 pm #217617Boy, he laid that right in the proverbial wheelhouse.
April 24, 2023 at 10:45 pm #217618I guess the dump VerHagen crowd is starting to loosen up.
April 24, 2023 at 10:48 pm #217619Haniger looked qualified to a Cardinal OFer on Nootbaar’s fly.
