I don’t understand why it’s not a given that any team would sac-bunt with that make believe baserunner in extras. I’d do it every time until they changed the rule.
Why would any thinking person! A person with a sane mind, choose Jordan Hicks in this situation! Been watching baseball for 50+ years and that is as dumb as it gets!

When I saw that he was in to pitch I started to yell at the screen. Whitey Herdog looked at me like I was crazy.
Yeah, I don’t get it. What’s so inane is that every time he makes an appearance, the game’s been tied, close or reasonably within reach. I understand making an attempt to get him right, but give him the baseball after you’re down by 5 or 6 runs late.
It won’t be too long before Hicks takes on the look of the pitching counterpart of Paul DeJong. It reached a point last season when DeJong’s overall countenance as he strode to the batter’s box was that of a man being led to the gallows. I felt sorry for him and I’m beginning to feel sorry for Hicks. They’re not doing him any favors.

It’s been a multi-year project, but maybe the Cards have ruined him. They’ve had me shaking my head with how many bumbling pitching mistakes they’ve made the last 2 or 3 years. They should just do Hicks a favor and let him go so another team can work with him. They probably owe him that much, and also to save them from themselves.
Hensley hasn’t pitched that great since the all star break last season, and even worse this year, but Marmol won’t be able to figure that out until it’s too late.
How do I know that? Hicks hasn’t pitched well in two years, and Marmol STILL hasn’t figured that one out.
The Reds are up 5-0 in the 4th inning of their game at home against PHI. Right now it’s the Cardinals and CIN battling each other to avoid last place in the NLC. Not what I would have expected.
