Goldy crushes a homer to center and this ties a ML record, set by many, in having the first two batters in the top of the 1st inning both scoring ….2-0 Good Guys.
July 24, 2023 at 8:52 pm #229037Ryan tosses 28 1st inning pitches and Waino has been staked to an early 2-0 advantage as we head to the bottom of the 1st in Phoenix.
July 24, 2023 at 8:54 pm #229038Waino’s first pitch is very very encouraging…..but his first 4 offerings result in a bases on balls. I like the way he looks though. Now Marte singles to right with Perdomo hoofing it to 3rd and then a Carroll sac fly slices the Redbird lead in half.
July 24, 2023 at 8:58 pm #229040I’m getting very lonely……am I the only one in the house?
July 24, 2023 at 9:01 pm #229041Waino exerts 16 pitches of energy and yields the one run on one hit in his first inning of labor.
July 24, 2023 at 9:03 pm #229042I’m sill hanging in for a little while. Want to see Waino for another inning or two.
July 24, 2023 at 9:04 pm #229043No, I’m watching, Pugs. Had to put the trash and recycle containers out to the curb. It’s hot and if I forget in the morning and miss him they’ll get pretty ripe if they sit out there for another week…Haha!
July 24, 2023 at 9:06 pm #229044Does anyone else ever get the urge to bellow out that old Frank Sinatra tune “Home On the Range”? Well…… I’m there right now…….oh give me a home where the buffalo roam and the deer and the antelope play……shoot the Cards go down meekly in the 2nd as it takes Nelson just 9 pitches to dispatch the Birds…..a far cry from his 28 1st inning deliveries.
July 24, 2023 at 9:07 pm #229045Two of our finest in the house …..welcome gentlemen.
July 24, 2023 at 9:09 pm #229046Wainwright threatening to give up the lead here in the second.
July 24, 2023 at 9:15 pm #229047A Thomas single past Arenado at 3rd knots this one up at 2-2. Then Perdomo blasts a long one to right but fortunately about 10 feet right of the pole. Perdomo whiffs looking and it’s 2-2 as we mossy along to inning #3.
July 24, 2023 at 9:15 pm #229048Yep. the 88 MPH fastballs are not fooling anybody. The curve is pretty loopy and coming in at 71, but he is throwing it behind in the count, which is helping. Whatever else he is throwing is coming in at 85.
July 24, 2023 at 9:18 pm #229050Being able to get the uncle charlie in for a strike when behind in the count is what is saving him right now. If he loses that and has to come in with the fast ball they are going to be sitting on it.
July 24, 2023 at 9:18 pm #229051I’ve done a lot more scoreboard watching around the league than normal lately. Them O’s won again and now have the best W/L record in the AL at 24 games over even. Both Earl and that little bird are really smiling… The Giants have cooled off and lost 6 straight and the Reds seem to have rebounded from a recent skid and have now won 5 in a row and are tied with the Brewers 2-2 in the home half of the 7th at Milwaukee. The Rangers and Astros are tied 6-6 in the visitor half of the 7th at Houston in an important game in the ALW.
July 24, 2023 at 9:21 pm #229052The first pitch Donovan sees in the 3rd is promptly lined into right for a leadoff base hit. Goldy pops out to the catcher a few feet in front of the net and then Arenado raps into an inning ending twin killing.
July 24, 2023 at 9:25 pm #229054Sweet gander at the out-of-town scoreboard, TD! We’re not used to getting such quality score updates around here …….only joshing Rat! I’ll tell you what………we have the two best guys in the scoreboard updating business right here at the Cardinal Nation in Rat and TD …..bar none!
July 24, 2023 at 9:28 pm #229055Waino looking stellar in the 3rd as he sets the D-backs down in one pretty little chorus 1-2-3 line. Game tied at 2-2 moving to the 4th.
July 24, 2023 at 9:29 pm #229056I get almost all of the Redbird games on our cable system, but the way this season’s gone I was contemplating signing up for MLB.TV to get access to some competitive and meaningful games around the league. I was real close to signing up about a month ago, but couldn’t bring myself to do it. It’s affordable, but I talked myself out of it simply for the reason that I don’t want the hassle of keeping up with another bill or having to jump through too many hoops when I decide to cancel, which is what happened last time I had it for a while several years ago. I’ll probably change my mind again when these races really heat up in about a month…Haha!
July 24, 2023 at 9:29 pm #229057Waino at 48 pitches through 3 innings.
July 24, 2023 at 9:38 pm #229059Nooty is 2-2 in the walk department tonight as he trots on down to 1st base to open the Redbird 4th. A Walker double puts runners at 2nd and 3rd and then Carlson’s long sac fly to left-center puts St. Louis back into the lead 3-2. DeJong walks and Nelson is now at 58 pitches as his pitching coach trots on our to discuss matters. Motter grounds one up the middle and out into center for a hit and Walker jogs in with the 4th Cardinal run. Knizner hits into a double play to end the inning. 4-2 Cards.
July 24, 2023 at 9:39 pm #229060I saw Motter’s RBI knock, so I can cross that off my bucket list, hit the sack and sleep like a baby. I’ll find out how it ends in the morning.
July 24, 2023 at 9:41 pm #229061I would go for the comprehensive baseball coverage next year when we’re playoff bound once again, TD.
Nighty nite Bling. Waino will bring you home the “W” tonight.
July 24, 2023 at 9:45 pm #229063Waino sets them down 1-2-3 once again in the 4th. That’s 7 straight retired by Waino.
July 24, 2023 at 9:46 pm #229064Was that big bearded dude in the stands with the Cardinal shirt Pugs or 1TD – I was not quite sure? 😀
Waino with a nice fourth. Looked like he found the release point. Can he get #199 tonight??
July 24, 2023 at 9:49 pm #229065Arenado is having a year!!
