I hope Waino does well because he has backed himself into a corner with what he is saying.

If he lays an egg in this one, I think he’ll be doing his work out of the bullpen for the remainder of 2023. But how can you bet against this guy? I think he’ll do very well tomorrow.

Well, I guess we will see. I hope he wins his next 2 starts to get to 200 and then immediately retires so his roster spot can be put to productive use.

Taking a gander at the final out-of-town scoreboard on Sunday:

The Reds complete the sweep of Arizona with a 7-3 win at Riverfront.

Atlanta downs Milwaukee 4-2 at Miller Park. A 3-run 8th inning homerun by Albies the big blow.

The Pirates lose out west to Anaheim 7-5. Show Me Bonnie with his league leading 36th dong of the year.

Never heard of her. Any relation to your Front Row Amy, Rat?

Not sure. But Front Row Amy was NOT in attendance for the last two games with Atlanta.

A Brewers game at County Stadium just isn’t the same without Front Row Amy.

It looks like the pitching matchup is:

    Wainwright 3-4 7.66 ERA

    vs

    Ryne Nelson (R) 6-5 4.82 ERA

It’s kind of ridiculous that Wainwright is getting a ML start – He should at least throw once in Memphis.

But at this point, whatever. I hope he gets his 200 wins.

Yeah. Let’s hope the Cardinals score 20 runs tomorrow so Adam can get one win closer to 200.

20 runs won’t matter if he can’t go 5 innings. But, like everyone else, I’m hoping for the best.

These weat coast games are too late for me these days, especially during the week. But I’ll catch up the next morning.

I LUV the west coast games! I usually watch one every night of the week. Assuming there is one, of course. And I don’t care whose playing either, I will watch.

The next two nights me and Whitey Herdog will grab a bite to eat about game time. Then we will sit on the couch and have a couple of 7×50 Palma Real cigars during the game.

I anticipate being home in time on Tuesday. I am going to go check out the new Oppenheimer movie. The atomic bomb project of WWII is a HUGE interest of mine.

I almost never miss a west coast game although I normally take an afternoon nap whenever one is scheduled and I’ll be certain to be watching tonight. This season’s been incredibly disappointing, but if there’s a silver lining it has to be the anticipation and excitement offered up by the return of Manny Motter!

While our esteemed Bling is counting sheep, I’ll be up with TD and Rat watching tonight’s game in the Valley of the Perpetual and Intense Sun. I foresee Waino going 5 1/3 innings, surrending 3 runs on 6 hits en route to a 5-4 St. Louis triumph. What’s for din-din tonight? Looks as it will be a trip over to Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse for some of their mushrooms stuffed with sausage, asparagus spears and Steak Diane. Then I’ll swing on through the Popeye’s drive thru lane to pickup 3 of their delicious apple cinnamon pies. And I may also pick up a few cigars, as Rat is starting to corrupt me with his talk of sitting on back in his easy chair with WhiteyHerDog at his side and the ballgame front and center and then reaching for one of his foot long 5×10 Palma Del Ray cigars. I may not get cigars quite that long, but they won’t be those skinny little shavers either.

I haven’t had a cigar in 40+ years. Lady bling didn’t like the cigars or the motorcycle so neither lasted very long.

Time to live a little, Bling. Maybe you should fire one up with me and Rat. But then you may not want to take advice from us two, with we two have 5 or 6 ex-wifeys between us.

When I was engaged to be married my grandfather told me to bare in mind that some women would rather be a widow than an ex-wife.

I don’t know if that is bad news about Helsley. I’m thinking he has been out since mid June, so maybe it can be backdated and he could return in two or three weeks. So possibly it could just be freeing up the 40 man slot. Or it could mean a setback, since he had been progressing and as of around a week ago there was talk of facing hitters soon.

I don’t think Herrera will be down long – he will either be traded to a ML team or be back up with StL before long. I hope we keep him.

Would putting Helsley on the 60 day DL allow a team without an open 40 man slot to acquire him?

Yes. It will open a spot and yes a team could still acquire him.

But we will give that spot up in hopefully a few weeks when Ryan comes back.

I asked about Helsley several days ago and thought they had him hid out somewhere. I think someone told me he was beginning to throw again, but I’m not entirely sure. At any rate, he’s not going to close out any important games this season.
