The more I see of Walker’s defense, the more I am willing to trade him.
Unfortunatly, everybody else has seen more of it now too.
Yes, the difference is the Cardinals will insist on using him in the field.
Other teams are smart enough to make him a DH only.
Walker is still just a baby. He’s going to be a great hitter and at least an adequate defender. Perennial all-star.
Well after the nice game Thursday, things sure went downhill in this series. Yeah, no way I trade Walker. Long term I think he plays first base, and will be an elite hitter.
Unfortunately we will likely need to do what many other organizations do, and that is be patient. Maybe we are better next year, maybe not. It could be a few seasons before things move in the right direction.
It’s time like these I always count my blessings in being a Cardinal fan. Lots of rings and success in my lifetime, so cannot complain. By some quirk of fate I could have been a Cub fan, or Phillies, or White Sox, who knows. Those teams have occasional success, but nothing like the Cardinals have had the last 60 years.
Management’s “Cardinal Way” just did not work this year. They kept making stop gap moves season by season, and let go of too much of the future and it finally caught up with them. Not to mention not going outside for a seasoned manager. Now it is time to change the process and look more to 3-4 years down the road.
Cheer up folks. In 1978 the Cubs beat the Cardinals 15 out of 18 games. We are nowhere near that pathetic.
Of course, the Cardinals were pitiful in 1978 as they finished 69-93. But they rebounded in 1979 and finished 86-76.

I remember 78 quite well. I was only 12 that summer and had only started following baseball a year before I believe. Yea we aren’t that bad yet but if we start trading people, who knows. Kind of weird how for me now matches those times. Back then you were lucky to see one game a week on tv and even that depended on the weather. With those old antennas if weather wasn’t great, you couldn’t get a good signal. Now because of work and then having my grandson most every weekend, I don’t get much time to watch which makes it hard to post. Maybe a good thing we are bad this year, hopefully have a little more free time next season but hard to say.
