Nats just won, so Card now lay sole claim as shortest NL midget.
April 11, 2023 at 12:16 am #216222Some really ugly baseball right now.
April 11, 2023 at 5:30 am #216224I didn’t watch or follow the game and have only seen the box score. 6 hits, 2 errors, starter got knocked around. The pen seems to have done OK. We got behind and nobody stepped out of a phone booth with a cape on. Is that about it?
April 11, 2023 at 6:42 am #216227Matz still blows chuncks…..
And cards sit at worst team in the NL…
April 11, 2023 at 10:02 am #216233Team is unwatchable and I went to my grandson’s baseball game and in the third inning the power/lights went out with a timer issue. Looks like that should have happen in Colorado. No matter the genius with his new extension says it’s EARLY.

In the “wash, rinse and repeat” cycle, this game was the “repeat” part.
April 11, 2023 at 10:39 am #216238Well folks, after watching this club up close get slapped around, there is certainly cause for concern. Fumbling around .500 for awhile is one thing, but getting hammered on a regular basis definitely makes you take notice.
The excuse is we are only 10 games in, and there is certainly the thought that we could get to August and be on a roll and thinking how this does not look like the same bunch that could not do anything right in the first few weeks of the season. I recall the 1973 club that got off to woeful start, and were something like 6-20 at one point. By the all star break they lead the NL East. Things can certainly change. But for now all you can do is keep running the guys out there and eventually they should play better.
My theme for our club coming in to the season was “Junior Walker and the All Stars”. But now I think it is “Mikolas and Matz and pray for better Stats”.
April 11, 2023 at 11:31 am #216241We like to talk about teams that stunk and got better. Nobody talks about teams that stunk and went right on stinking. That happens even more.
April 11, 2023 at 11:37 am #216242mike, 1td has brought up 1973 at least a couple times now. If you two keep it up, it’s gonna happen again, lol. At least the losing part. Watching a slapfest live and in a road game is never fun. Maybe your next game will be better.
“Mikolas and Matz and pray for better Stats.” That has an elegance reminiscent of a Shakespearean sonnet chock full of tightly rhyming iambic pentameters that we all remember reading in school. Pitching, pitching, my kingdom for some pitching? Oli’s follies?
April 11, 2023 at 11:43 am #216244It rolls off the tongue, but I feel the need to note that Spahn and Sain were very successful.
April 11, 2023 at 12:29 pm #2162491973…Seems like long ago, but just shows to go ya’ that the evil baseball gypsies are both timeless and boundless in their tendency to forever lurk in waiting for someone to say, “Don’t worry, it’s still early”…

Indeed. Our club right now is the flip side of the ’48 Braves – sort of the antithesis of “Spahn and Sain and pray for rain.”
