Sheesh – Matz certainly not looking like he did in Florida. Either pitches way off the plate, or batting practice deliveries. Riley might be better than Arenado, but he does not get the publicity Nolan gets.
No slap on Arenado, just a comment that Riley is really good.
April 4, 2023 at 6:55 pm #215572Weird seeing another “Murphy” in an Atlanta uniform.
April 4, 2023 at 6:58 pm #215573The only issue I sometimes have with Nado is that at times he seems to try too hard to make the highlight reel. He demonstrated that tendency in the last half inning when he tried to turn 2 when it was entirely clear he should have held on to the baseball. Goldy bailed him out.
April 4, 2023 at 7:04 pm #215574Somebody needs to tell Mo it’s late July.
April 4, 2023 at 7:04 pm #215575Man, these guys are really hammering us! Is that Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, and Joe Adcock at the plate?
April 4, 2023 at 7:07 pm #215576Not one good start the first time through the rotation.
Flaherty got handed a miracle.
Warmed over dog feces; not even fresh, lol
April 4, 2023 at 7:09 pm #215577A lineup of all righties is dumb. I hope the guy goes 1 inning and they bring in a righty, just to teach Ollie not to do whatever the computer says. The ideal R-L-R-L lineup is time honored for a reason. It not only works now, but throughout the game whoever they bring in
Amen brother
April 4, 2023 at 7:10 pm #215578Still only 3-0. Last night Marmol let Woodford stay in and he finished up pretty good. Maybe if Matz can settle in and get in a good groove, we can chip away and make this a contest.
April 4, 2023 at 7:11 pm #215579ATL making a lot of solid contact. If this keeps up, Matz is going to look like poor Jerry Quarry out there…
April 4, 2023 at 7:13 pm #215580That’s what they did last night to close to within 2 runs, Bikemike. Then the Redbird manager decided to pack it in and hand the baseball to Hicks.

Hope springing
April 4, 2023 at 7:17 pm #215582This Dodd kid looks good – has command of his pitches, which makes all the difference. When you are around the zone, especially with the pitch clock where you get the ball and fire, you keep the defense on their toes and things tend to go your way.
April 4, 2023 at 7:18 pm #215583Even the outs have been scorched.
April 4, 2023 at 7:18 pm #215584Seems like there have been a couple of balls hit to right that Walker sort of gave up on. Not totally sure of course, but seems like he let up a little to play the bounce rather than go after it.
April 4, 2023 at 7:19 pm #215585Albies just gave Matz a shave.
April 4, 2023 at 7:21 pm #215586I agree, BikeMike. Especially the 1st inning Acuna single.
April 4, 2023 at 7:22 pm #215587Oh man, that really hurt. Two out single to get it to 4-0.
April 4, 2023 at 7:23 pm #215588He sure did, Euro. Almost gave him a Marie-Antoinette…
April 4, 2023 at 7:23 pm #215589bikemike, I’ve noticed the same about Walker a few times over the first few games. He’ll get much better because he’s a great athlete, but the growing pains might really hurt here and there.
April 4, 2023 at 7:24 pm #215590Man this starting pitching is terrible! We are gonna have a ton of comeback wins this year are we are gonna be in serious trouble!
April 4, 2023 at 7:25 pm #215591He sure did, Euro. Almost gave him a Marie-Antoinette…
Ugh, a beheading…….with a dull blade…….those are the worst…..always pick the sharp blade.
April 4, 2023 at 7:25 pm #215592I never feel good when I look at the score and remind myself that it’s still early, but it is.
April 4, 2023 at 7:27 pm #215593Haha! A pitcher’s really vulnerable out there on the mound. It’s certainly no place for women and children.
April 4, 2023 at 7:31 pm #215594A pitcher’s really vulnerable out there on the mound.
When you see that, you can’t help but think of things like Caratini’s liner off Poncedeleon’s head.
April 4, 2023 at 7:31 pm #215595That play at 1B look a little familiar, Euro?…Haha!
