Arenado rifles a hotshot grounder down the line at 3rd…where Drury sprawls out to glove it but his throw to 1st base will understandably not have enough mustard on it to register the out. Very nice play by Drury as he prevented a sure double….and if Yadi had been the one hitting that ball, he very well could have had his man at 1st base.
O’Neill goes the other way and pokes a grounder thru the hole and out into right field for a base hit…. Arenado stopping at 2nd.
Donovan flies out to Pham in left and there can be no advancement on the base paths.
Carlson grounds out to Drury at 3rd base.

Neil Pallante sets the Redlegs down in one pretty little 1-2-3 chorus line……with only 10 pitches. He’s now sitting at 57 pitches for the night, so by golly, I think he’s got another inning in him, and quite possibly a Win to go along with it.

Bader on 3-2 flies out routinely to Pham in left field.
Knizner raps a one-hopper Farmer’s way out at short and he’ll glove it and easily throw out the Cardinal catcher at 1st base.

Reds 0Why don’t I get all warm & fuzzy at the prospect of Steven Matz coming back quickly to the rotation? To be fair though, we need to see more of him to make a true evaluation of the Matz signing.
Hey we haven’t heard from Cabby since his stellar 4 inning outing earlier this week. Any possibility that he’ll be starting a game soon?
Neil Pallante is starting to make the enviable habit of setting down the opposition 1-2-3, as he does it once again in the 5th. Neil now with 73 pitches under his belt.

Gorman golfs a fly out to center where Friedl will have to conduct a short jog in towards the infield to catch up with it….and he has it for the out.

Arenado strikes out swinging and both starting pitchers have been having their way with the batters as hits have been at a premium. No earned runs here tonight too, as both Redbird runs came to fruition as a result of poor Cincinnati throws to 1st base.

My Cabby question was just answered, as he’s coming into this ballgame with one out in the 6th and nobody on base. Nice outing by Pallante tonight!

Donovan hits a scorching grounder smack dab up the middle, but unfortunately that’s exactly where Cincinnati has a fielder positioned, Reynolds gloves it and throws him out at 1st base.
Carlson grounds it right back at…and off Castillo’s arm and by the time Castillo retrieves the ball, Carlson will be walking back to the bag instead of running towards it and that’ll be an infield hit.

Reds 0Cranny in the house too….how sweet is that. Hey Cranny……care to divulge what you had for din-din tonight? If so, that would only be a second time, as it was just last weekend that Cranny finally revealed for the first time what he had for din-din….and I believe it was bear meat of all things.
Cabby setting these Redlegs down with the greatest of ease, as he has now readily dispatched all 5 Reds he’s faced. Still 2-0 Cards.

Tommy swipes 2nd base….#15 on the year. The catcher’s throw skipped on by Reynolds at 2nd base, but not far enough for any further advancement.
Gorman blisters a shot to right field…that Aquino contorts oddly for and somehow comes up with the catch…..you guys will have to check out the replay on that one.
