Top of 1. Waino dealing for the Cards on this hot Tuesday evening.
Profar strikes out swinging and Waino’s stuff looks muy bueno.
Machado strikes out looking.
Cronenworth grounds out to Arenado to retire the side.
Waino with 17 1st inning pitches.

Cards Coming upMay 31, 2022 at 6:59 pm #186700I think Rats and I share the same opinion of what “clutch” is. That feeling in your gut when there’s a BIG moment in the game and who you would want up at the plate. Who has performed in those situations.
There are playoff clutch players too… just kidding.
May 31, 2022 at 7:01 pm #186701My oh my. Arenado went the other way!!!
May 31, 2022 at 7:07 pm #186702Bottom of 1. Blake Snell starting for SD.
Edman flies out to Myers just on the edge of the right field track about 10 feet off the line.
Goldy walks and there’s his 36 consecutive game of reaching base.
Arenado lofts an extremely soft single into right field for a hit and Goldy will scamper all the way around to 3rd base.
Albert couldn’t check his swing on one in the dirt and Albert will take a seat. Even though Snell got him on that last pitch, Albert looked pretty comfy in this ab vs Snell……Albert should get him next time.
Pez strikes out swinging.

Voit… on 3-2 Luke lines a base hit to center.
Myers ….Padres are fouling off a fair number of pitches early on in this game, which if it continues, will not be friendly to Waino’s pitch count and longevity in this game…..Myers hits it deep to left but not deep enough to dent the scoring column in San Diego’s favor as Pez will haul it in on the track for out #1 here in the Padre 2nd.
Cano strikes out swinging on an effective low breaking ball.
Kim walks.
Alfaro lines a hard hit grounder to short that Sosa briefly losses the handle on……has it and fires it over to Goldy’s waiting mitt at 1st base to just nip the Padre catcher to retire the side.
Waino at 43 pitches.

Pads 0May 31, 2022 at 7:27 pm #186704Bottom of 2.
Yadi fouls out to the 1st baseman Cronenworth in foul territory just as he was about to run out of real estate over near the railing.
Sosa flies out routinely to Meyers in right field and I’m getting the unfortunate feeling that Blake Snell is really settling nicely in here.
Bader fouls out to Manny Machado near 3rd base to retire the Birds.
Cards 0
Pads 0Snell at 37 pitches.
May 31, 2022 at 7:35 pm #186705Top of 3
Grisham…….taught the finer aspects of this game by our very own TexasCard. Are you out there tonight TC? Grisham strikes out looking….K #4 for Waino.
Profar strikes out looking and Profar didn’t like the call…..tough luck fellow.
Machado grounds one neatly down to Arenado at 3rd where Nolan will scoop it on up and fling it across the diamond to Goldy at 1st to retire the side.
Cards 0
SD 0Waino at 60 pitches
May 31, 2022 at 7:40 pm #186706Well, lets see how the two leadoff men thing works here in the 3rd.
May 31, 2022 at 7:47 pm #186707Bottom of 3
Donovan…..294 BA not all that bad for your 9th hitter in the lineup. On 3-2 he coaxes a free pass…..nice at bat by the Redbird rookie vs a pretty tough cookie.
Edman strikes out swinging for the downs.
Goldy lines one towards the gap in Right-center and that puppy will roll all of the way to the wall…..in comes Donovan to score on the double by this games hottest hitter.
Goldy to 3rd base on a wild pitch.
Arenado …on 3-2 Arenado hits it a mile to left but unfortunately it drifts to the left of the foul pole. Then he walks.
Albert hits it to right and I think it’s going to be far enough to make this a 2-0 Cardinal advantage….Myers catches it and indeed Goldy will score on the sac fly .
Arenado thrown out trying to steal 2nd base.

SD 0May 31, 2022 at 8:00 pm #186708Top of 4
Cronenworth pops it in foul territory down the right field line….Goldy and Tommy E. race out and it’s Edman making a marvelous catch as he crashes into the netting out there….what a beauty that was!
Voit taps a soft comebacker to Waino who’ll easily throw Luke out at 1st base.
Myers grounds out to Sosa at short and Waino only had to exert 6 pitches of energy this inning to dispatch the Padres.
Cards 2
SD 0May 31, 2022 at 8:08 pm #186709Bottom of 4
Pez strikes out swinging, Snell’s 4th K on the evening.
Yadi strikes out swinging on a high hard one.
Sosa …..feel like a broken record here as Sosa goes down swinging in the same fashion as his other 2 teammates did this inning, as we mozzy on along to the 5th.
Cards 2
Pads 0Snell now at 74 pitches.
May 31, 2022 at 8:12 pm #186710Din-dun tonight was Taco-tuesday Tacos-si si Senor!
Juat got the game on to see some runs! All rightys tonight except Donovan. Saw a quick interview with Nado bout his recent dip. He said hes hitting too soon and pulling the ball foul
Said he used to hit ir center to left. Sounds like its a matter of timing. I’m sure hes aware of it but you goota admit he pretty much carried us for about a month.May 31, 2022 at 8:15 pm #186711Top of 5. Only 3 combined hits by these two fine ball clubs thus far, which now by definition, classifies this game as an official pitching duel.
Cano grounds out meekly to Edman at 2nd.
Kim lines one towards left center…..Bader is on his high horse and yippie ki yay he runs it down for the out. Kim hit that one right on the button but fortunately it hung up long enough for Bader to do his thing.
Myers strikes out.
Cards 2
Pads 0May 31, 2022 at 8:17 pm #186712Sounds like a very tasty south of the border din-din, Wooster!
May 31, 2022 at 8:20 pm #186713Mucho Bueno Senor Pugs!
May 31, 2022 at 8:21 pm #186714Bottom of 5.
Bader flies out to Grisham in straight away center field.
Donovan shoots a grounder out to Kim at short and he’ll glove it and gun the speedy Cardinal center fielder out at 1st base with a little room to spare.
Edman pops out to Kim at SS.
Cards 2
SD 0Snell at 87 pitches.
* Not too many things in this world are more pleasing to the ears that when Wooster lays a little of his Espanol on us….thanks Wooster!

Grisham strikes out swinging, Waino’s 7th K victim on the evening.
Profar strikes out swinging and the Padre left fielder will be tickled pink facing any Cardinal pitcher who does not have #50 on his uniform. And with Waino now at 91 pitches, Profar most likely will be granted that wish in his next at bat.
Machado strikes out looking…… that’s 9 of them for Waino.
Cards 2
Pads 0Waino now at 96 pitches.
May 31, 2022 at 8:33 pm #186716Waino looking good tonight!
May 31, 2022 at 8:39 pm #186717Bottom of 6. Both Manny Machado and his skipper were ejected for vehemently protesting the home plate ump’s ball and strike judgements in between at bats here …adios senor Machado. Brian Christianson will now mann the top step of the SD dugout.
Goldy flies out to Myers in right.
Arenado grounds out to Cano at 2nd base.
Albert flies out to very deep Right-center field.
Cards 2
Pads 0May 31, 2022 at 8:47 pm #186718Top of 7.
Cronenworth flies out to Bader in center field and that’s now 14 consecutive Padres that have bitten the dust vs Waino. Waino is putting on a pitching clinic tonight ….and Blake Snell hasn’t exactly been chopped liver himself
Voit pokes a single to left.
Myers strikes out looking, Waino’s 10th K.
Cano grounds out to Edman at 2nd.
Cards 2
Pads 0Waino finishes his marvelous evening with 115 pitches and he almost looks as if he has another 115 pitches in the tank ready to be uncorked upon these southern Californians.
May 31, 2022 at 8:52 pm #186719Looking at the gameday chart, Profar had a couple close pitches go against him in the 6th but Machado stuck out looking on a pitch in the zone.
May 31, 2022 at 8:58 pm #186720Bottom of 7. Craig Stammen the new SD hurler.
Pez greets Stammen rather rudely by smoking a shot into left for a base hit. Nooty will pinch run for Pez.
Yadi grounds it out to Cano at 2nd who’ll backhand flip it to Alcantara at the 2nd base bag….safe!, but the throw to 1st will get Yadi by about 15 feet
Sosa grounds out to Ancantra at short, with Yadi holding at 2nd.
Bader chops a grounder down to Kim at 3rd and his throw to 1st will be a high one and Bader beats it out. Runners occupying the corners with 2 out. Boy an insurance run or two sure would look pretty here
Donovan slices a fly down the line in left….and it’s Profar making a dandy of a catch as he bangs into the side wall out there.
Cards 2
SD 0May 31, 2022 at 9:08 pm #186721Yadi did his job on that run and hit- made contact while Nooty was already off running. Sosas ground out did not move Nooty but Baders chop did. Inning died with Donovans fly out. Too many lob- we really aren’t clicking. Gotta get better!
May 31, 2022 at 9:15 pm #186722Top of 8. Giovanny Gallegos your new Cardinal pitcher.
Kim strikes out looking and as Kim started heading back to his dugout, he quickly turned around to have a couple of words with the home plate ump. They must not have been too crude in nature as the ump basically ignored him.
Alfaro hits it to deep right field… and it’ll go over Donovan’s head and bounce up against the wall….and lookie there who comes all of the way over from his position in center to play the carom off the wall… Alfaro had himself a double. Very nice hustle play by Bader to prevent Alfaro from entertaining any notions of going for 3 bases.
Grisham ….oh oh…..that ball is hit high and deep to right and well up into the seats for a tying 2 run bomb……you taught the kid too well, TexasCard!!
Profar …..and Gallegos must feel about 6 inches tall after giving up that Grisham home run, thus spoiling a masterpiece by mystro Waino here this evening. Well, I guess Gallegos has to look at the bright side of things under these circumstances……he can now get the big “W” in this game with a little help from his friends.
Profar flies out to Nooty in left.Alcantara strikes out swinging but the damage was done.
Cards 2
SD 2May 31, 2022 at 9:26 pm #186723Well finally caught up in game after recording it, had to mow lawn. Waino was just flat outstanding after looking a little shaky with a high pitch count after 2 innings. But look what happens, gallegos gives it up. When you can’t spot fastballs, it’s hard to pitch well. Those mid 90s fastballs get his hard more times than not when they right down central. Sucks but at least we are still tied going into bottom of eighth.
