Top of 1. Quintana manning the mound for Pittsburgh today.

Edman flies out to Suwinski in right center.

Goldy pops it in the air down the line in left….and it’ll hit the turf in fair territory just inches shy of the track and Goldy will trot into 2nd with a standup double.

    Arenado strikes out swinging.

Albert grounds it out to Castro at short and he’ll scoop her on up and throw Albert out at 1st base to retire the side.

Libby induces Hayes to grounding out to short, to commence his big league career.

Reynolds pops out to Goldy in foul territory.

Chavis strikes out swinging and Libby’s career is off and running in fine style.

I like Liberatore’s quick pace. Batters better be ready. They will start trying to slow him down, disrupt his pace. Maybe Yadi can put a stop to that somehow.

All Dickerson needed to do was hit it to the right side to advance the runner to third with one out. Fail.

    Top of 2.

Pez on 3-2 just barely checks his swing on a low hard one and he’ll head on down to 1st base without having to flex his muscles.

Carlson shoots it on the ground right back up the pipe and out into center field for a base hit….Pez to 2nd base.

Yadi lines it hard on the ground to Hayes at 3rd….and thru him and out into left field…..Pez is rounding 3rd and digging for more….the throw…. won’t get him and the Cards seize an early 1-0 advantage. E-5

Sosa lines a solid base hit to left and Carlson will hit paydirt without a throw and it’s 2-0 Cards. Yadi moving into 2nd.

Dickerson flies out to Reynolds in straight away center.

Edman lines it hard, but right in the vicinity of Gamel in left and he’ll slap the leather on it for out #2.

Goldy goes the other way and it’s rocketed down the line in right and into the corner she goes….in comes Yadi….in prances Sosa and its 4-0 Birds on the Goldy 2-bagger and boy is Goldy sizzling red hot.

Arenado pops out to Castro at short

A leadoff walk and a long Castro double has the Pirates thinking big things in the 2nd with no out.

And now a wild pitch will dent the scoreboard in Pittsburgh’s scoring column.

And now a Tsutugu double to deep center makes this this a 4-2 St. Louis ballgame and the Bucs have still not registered an out.

Castro flies out to center….. Tsutugu holds at 2nd.

Michael Perez drills a shot to deep center…. Carlson back towards the wall and quickly running out of real estate….has it right at the base of the wall for the out….whew!

    Flies out to center.

    Pirates get just the two

A lot of pitches right down broadway. A learning experience.

Goldy appears to be on track for another top 10 mvp season. He is a machine.

    Top of 3.

Albert on 3-2 strikes out swinging on an extremely tentative attempt at hitting the baseball…..I think it’s safe to say that Albert was a bit fooled on that one.

Pez strikes out swinging for the downs on some high smoke.

Carlson flies out routinely to Suwinski in right….though the Pirate right fielder had an inexplicable slight twitch to his body just prior to the ball landing in his mitt.

3rd double given up by Liberatore in last inning plus, doesn’t seem like he is fooling anybody right now

Bottom of 3. Gorman into this game as the new Redbird 2nd baseman as Tommy E. heads to the outfield.

Hayes flies out to Pez in right.

Reynolds blisters it on the ground down the line and past Arenado at 3rd and it will clank off the sideboard and carom out to Edman in left and Reynolds will have himself a double.

Chavis rolls a slow one Arenado’s way at 3rd and he’ll glove it and gun Chavis out at 1st base with Reynolds moving up 90 feet to occupy 3rd base.

    Gamel strikes out swinging.

Well just tuned in, Cardinals doing well but apparently Carlson hurt, also bader out with light headedness.

    Top of 4.

Yadi first pitch swinging hits it to deep center….. Reynolds back to the track and will gather it in right at the base of the wall for the out…..ball carried nicely, but not quite nice enough.

    Sosa strikes out.

Dickerson pokes one on a line the opposite way and past 3rd and out into left field where Gamel in left has a long way to go to track it down so Dickerson will easily gallop into 2nd base with a double. Not hit hard but hit where the fielder’s weren’t.

Edman grounds it into right field for a base hit and Dickerson will round 3rd and score with ease….5-2 Birds.

Goldy loops a soft fly to short center that will fall in for a hit…..Tommy E. will race around to 3rd. And that will put an end to Quintana’s pitching tonight as his skipper is coming for him…..and he’s not bearing presents, trust me.

Libby out of the 4th unscathed, having giving up a one out single, but then erasing that runner compliments of a pitcher’s best friend…..your 4-6-3 twin killing. Libby at 64 pitches thru 4…..16 pitches an inning ….not terrible for a raw rookie

Top of 5. DUJ still pitching for Pittsburgh.

Albert….30 lifetime homers in the fine city of Pittsburgh…..he won’t make it 31 in this at bat as he strikes out looking.

    Pez walks.

Gorman drills a shot down the line in right and into the corner…and Pez will check into 3rd base on the Gorman double. Boy that ball was smoked….. I’d like to see the mph velocity off the bat on that baby.

Yadi grounds it out to Castro at short and he’ll fire it home to easily nail Pez at the plate.

Sosa grounds it out to Castro who’s been a very busy man this evening and he’ll take the easy route to putting the finishing touches on this inning as he flips the ball to 2nd for the out

Liberatore has been pretty good. Not a bad debut. As much as I love Yadi and Albert I’m kinda looking for next year. Hard to watch these two on the base paths. And at the plate.

Libby getting stronger as this game moves along, as he sets the first two Pirates down, one via K, then Hayes singles. And the winds are really kicking up….rain can’t be too far off … let’s get this last out so this game goes into the books.

Reynolds on 3-2 whacks a long drive to left …and off the wall….oh no the ball caroms wayyy over towards center field and Reynolds can literally crawl home with an inside the parker …and he does round the bases without sliding and just like that it’s a 5-4 Cardinal ballgame.

Chavis drills a liner towards Left center that nobody is going to catch and he’ll have yet another Pittsburgh double .

Gamel on 3-2 he walks and that will be it for the rookie and that’s a shame as the first two Pirates in this inning went down with nary a whimper…..and then all heck broke loose. Pitching change in progress.

Well things fell apart for liberatore, not terrible but not sure he’s ready for prime time. Pirates aren’t exactly a great offensive team.

Not impressed overly from what I saw from Liberatore…..might just be to soon for him to….but lets face it the Pirates suck as a team.

Drew Verhagen on for St. Louis to hopefully put an abrupt end to this most troubling 5th inning.

Diego Castillo walks on 4 consecutive balls and the bases are now full of Bucs…..and not the monetary kind unfortunately.

Tsutsugo on 3-2 hits it down the line in left where a sliding Edman couldn’t quite catch it in foul territory. Then on the next pitch he grounds out Sosa-Goldy….whew!..
