Someone mentioned Falstaff earlier. I remember he had that… and he also used to drink Blatz.
Ah, yes…
September 18, 2022 at 3:53 pm #201347Packys back- Pack Attack!

ParticipantYea me and my son got our bobblehead. I don’t drink beer too often more a whiskey guy and never at the ballpark. Far as food, saving it for our favorite BBQ place on way home. Heck just for a coke and peanuts I paid 15 dollars. Worse thing is everything seems to be credit card now. They want a tip as well. Nooty makes great throw to nail runner at home. It’s now or never for this game.
September 18, 2022 at 4:02 pm #201351Nootz likes collecting OF assists. Gives his team a chance in the home half. We’ll see what happens.
September 18, 2022 at 4:03 pm #201352Boy that’s like the 3 rd time this week I’ve seen Nooty (keeper of the wall) gun a sac fly runner down at the plate!
September 18, 2022 at 4:10 pm #201353Not even close. Good defense and good pitching. You know the rest of the story…good day.
Go Cardinals!September 18, 2022 at 4:10 pm #201354If you’re gonna get just 2 hits, you better bunch ’em together or you probably end up with the dreaded Zip Wh0pper
September 18, 2022 at 4:12 pm #201355
stlcard25ParticipantNot much going with the bats lately. It’s like the entire team can’t hit unless there’s a weak lefty on the mound.
September 18, 2022 at 4:14 pm #201356My goodness Euro you’re spot on ! I believe out ZipWHOPer may have increased to 13 ! A lucky number in South America I’ve been told!
September 18, 2022 at 4:16 pm #201357Yankees 10 Brewers 4 in the 8th inning. Judge with two dongs today. #s 58 and 59.
Looks like we will maintain that eight game lead heading out west. We are going to need every bit of that to hang on.
UPDATE: It’s now a 10-6 Yankee lead in the 8th. Surely they can hang on to a six run lead with two innings left?????
September 18, 2022 at 4:19 pm #201359with only one unearned run in 20 innings against mediocre pitchers, we were very lucky to win one of the last two games.
September 18, 2022 at 4:21 pm #201360cool labels Carter.
This beer talk jolted a memory: There was a stocky black vendor that toted around a case of long necks, Bud and sometimes Falstaff. First noted him at the park, but also saw him at Keil and the Arena (before it was Checker Dome)
He had a gravel voice and would shout: Who want’s some beer?”
Anyone remember that guy?
September 18, 2022 at 4:23 pm #201361I’m sure Oli and the boys are just saving runs for the West coast and the playoffs. Don’t want to peak in September.

ParticipantPretty pitiful on the offensive side of things today and really the whole series. If we go out and hit against the west coast teams like this, we may be staying home for the playoffs and not as home team
September 18, 2022 at 4:24 pm #201363LeGrand…There were at least 50 to 75 of those guys…Haha!
September 18, 2022 at 4:31 pm #201364Yea, those are kind of hard to pinpoint 1td. But like LeGrand, my son and I have one we won’t forget. An ice cream vendor (back during McGwire’s days) had a very distinct “ice cream” scream. We went to a lot of games back then and he never failed to make us laugh. We bought a few ice cream rounds from him too.
September 18, 2022 at 4:32 pm #201365Took 3 of 5 at home vs. the Reds, but after tomorrow’s idle time the Cardinals should get a little litmus test out on the left coast. Might be just what they need to get fine tuned and accustomed to the type of action they’ll see in about three weeks.
September 18, 2022 at 4:34 pm #201366Anyone remember the Chapman’s brand ice ceam they used to sell at games? You’d get that wooden spoon to eat the stuff.
September 18, 2022 at 4:41 pm #201367Judge doubles in a couple more runs in the 9th. 12-6 Yankees heading to the last of the 9th. Looks like that eight game lead will remain intact heading to San Diego.
September 18, 2022 at 4:41 pm #201368Ah, the emotional ebbs and flows of a season. With the Cards’ resurgence in the 2nd half, I’ve been thinking I’ll go to Busch for a couple playoff games. Then the recent play against weak sisters has me thinking I’ll feel stupid if I spend the time and bucks (have to travel from the East coast) to watch them play like they are now. Nothing like good playoff baseball though. It’s even better in-person.
September 18, 2022 at 4:44 pm #2013691td, don’t remember the brand we would buy. I think what my son usually got were ice cream sandwiches.
September 18, 2022 at 4:58 pm #201370EuroDandy…I don’t think they’ve sold the brand I mentioned in probably over 50 years. Haha! I’m not even certain that Chapman’s are still in business, but I remember them being the only brand at StL. ballgames back when ballpark menus were limited to the staples. You can get almost anything you want now, but we always stop and eat something before the game. I always bring along my own peanuts and end up buying a hot dog or two and a Coca Cola.
September 18, 2022 at 5:01 pm #201371Final – Yankees 12 Brewers 8.
We maintain the eight game cushion. We can breathe just slightly easier for about 48 hours now.
