Go Cardinals!Well good win though it wasn’t easy. The great Albert does it again in the clutch. While Im not sure Albert is the greatest player ever, he is the greatest I’ve watched play.
82willie…I saw plenty of both Aaron and Mays when they were both still dangerous and productive, and Albert Pujols is the greatest RH’ed hitter I’ve ever seen.
Cardinals27…It seems like every time he taters-up it has a direct impact on the outcome of the game. He’s always been like that though.
Freddie Freeman is red hot. Has a hit his first time up today. As I type this he is at .331. Goldschmidt can kiss the batting title and triple crown goodbye.
Cardinals are now 7-1 in games started by Quintana. He hasn’t been as flashy as Monte, but Jose’s been a really solid starter in almost all of his turns since putting on a Redbird uniform.
Little Eddie gets it all started with a lead-off double in the 9th and now has 89 runs scored this season. I hope he continues to hit and remains somewhere at the top of the order. I’d like to see him reach the 100 runs scored plateau this season. He’s good at crossing HP.
Still think of that article I saw after we signed Albert to come back for his swan song, saying it showed that management only cared about the dollars and not winning. I was thinking “We’ll just see – Albert might be more than just a player, but a mentor and key bat off the bench vs lefties.”
He has been that and a lot more! Amazing. Certainly no more question about what hat this first ballot Hall of Famer will have on when we tour his display at Cooperstown in the future.
Although I will say that management has certainly reaped a huge profit off of Albert. The Angels overpaid during his time there, and the Cardinals have gotten a bargain. I hope they give him a nice bonus after this season.
BikeMike…Let’s hope his bonus is a 3rd World Championship in a Cardinal uniform! I’ve never seen a 42 year old ballplayer have such an incredible impact on a season, but hey, he’s Albert Pujols.
I do not recall a 42 year old having this much impact on a club either. Maybe it has happened somewhere along the long history of the big leagues.
With the Cardinals, Stan hit 12 homers and drove in 58 as a 42 year old for a 1963 club that contended, but finished second. In today’s game that club would have likely been in the post season.
Willie Mays helped the Mets in 1973 at around this age.
But this season by Albert is certainly the “feel good” story of the season. Would be incredible to top it off with a ring.
Freddie Freeman is now 2-2 on the day. He’s up to .332. Batting title is long gone for Goldschmidt now. And so is the triple crown. MVP is starting to dwindle as well.
I tend tô read posts before I look who wrote them. Some I recognize without looking. Really long posts are usually Jagar and negative posts are usually Rats.
I Love the fight in this team. Maybe Brian can do some research and an article on.how this team ranks in late inning come back wins.
CariocCard…I don’t know where they rank, but I’d guess it’s way above the middle of the pack. I also think that the big pepper grinder in the dugout is having a favorable effect…
Tremendous work by Albert to sneak closer to 700. What seemed like a very long shot at the start of the year is now appearing likely. I am so thankful that Albert came back for one more special year in St Louis.
Yep bicyclemike, I remember the article well and a few others on here voicing same concerns. I felt like you given enough chances pujols would prove them wrong. Regardless of 700, I think he has more than done that.

That would bring some incredible good will to finish the careers of Albert and Yadi and potentially Waino too. It would be tremendous, for sure. And looking like it could really happen more every day. This team needs a couple more high end relievers to step forward and it’s a real threat to anyone in October.
