Well this reliever usually does. If he blows this game my tv may not survive.

jj-cf-stlParticipant😀
August 17, 2022 at 9:50 pm #196131How do you walk the lead off guy with a four run lead?
Gio says it’s easy. You just take your time. Even slow it to a snail’s pace if you have to, and pay no attention the location of the catcher’s mitt.
August 17, 2022 at 9:50 pm #196132Grichuk was safe by about five feet. How did the ump miss that?
August 17, 2022 at 9:53 pm #19613414 games above sea level…High water mark so far in ’22. Nice win.
GO REDBIRDS!
August 17, 2022 at 9:53 pm #196135Thank goodness. That’s a winner.
August 17, 2022 at 9:55 pm #196136gscott, I think Mr Wendelstedt was anxious to have his post game beer.

jj-cf-stlParticipantAt least we didn’t have to bring Helsley in.
3 W’s in a row!Really nice job by the lineup. Another 5 run game.

jj-cf-stlParticipantBrewers lose
August 17, 2022 at 10:02 pm #196139Dodgers beat the Brewers 2-1.
August 17, 2022 at 10:07 pm #196140It’s a Winner! Good overall team win. Big night for Gorman Donovan and Nooty. Goldy and Nado doing their thing again. Very solid pitching with a 9th inning scare thrown in by Giovanni. Go Cardinals!

ParticipantGreat win. Hoping for a sweep.
August 18, 2022 at 1:03 am #196146So what’s with the bully thing? lol
August 18, 2022 at 5:58 am #196148It looks like DeJong is reverting. Since August 7th he has not taken a walk and has struck out 12 times. In the past he has been unable to snap out of it, so we will have to see how it goes this time. It goes without saying that a late season pennant race is not the time to be trying to figure things out.
Edman is the alternative at short and, unlike earlier when he replaced DeJong, he hasn’t been taking walks and getting on base much either, as his OPS has dropped 50 points since July 1st.
O’Neill has not been getting on base much, and Yadi has an astonishingly low .237 OBP on the year (49 OPS+, yikes), so my concern is we will stumble into post season with a gaggle of non producers at the bottom of the order. We had that same problem much of last season and we know it does not work versus the good teams.

stlcard25ParticipantBraves, Phils and Brewers all lose…good night for the Cards. Now let’s finish these guys off with a sweep today! It would be nice to be 4 games up going to Arizona.
August 18, 2022 at 7:00 am #196150Indeed, and by the way, very nice call yesterday morning where you projected Gorman to be the offensive catalyst, with the Cards’ winning 7-2. …..the 5-1 Cards triumph was right in the ballpark, stlcard25.

stlcard25ParticipantThank you, Pugs. Indeed, I’m of the belief that our younger Nolan is set for a solid finish to the year, which portends an exemplary 2023 campaign. I wouldn’t put his first All Star nod and a Silver Slugger past Gorman. Once he gets his adjustments down, he swings a blazing bat.
